Powers: Chyre was quite strong and hardy for his age, and was armed with standard KCPD firearms. 

History: (Flash: Iron Heights) - <9 years ago> Fred Chyre and his partner Joe Jackam pursed serial killer Dr. Michael Amar into a residential house and found him about to claim another victim. Chyre was stabbed saving Amar’s intended victim, and Jackam gunned down Amar. Chyre’s wounds weren’t serious, but he was none to happy to find that Amar was still breathing.

(Flash II #171 (fb, BTS), Flash Secret Files #3) - Officer Chyre became the only 58-year-old beat cop on the KCPD, mainly owing to his gruff nature and explosive temper. Chyre received several suspensions for excessive force. His anger came from the death of Jackam, whom Fred revered.

(Flash II #170) - Officers Chyre and Julie Jackam responded to a murder at Keystone Motors committed by Children of Cicada cultists. The cultists engaged Chyre and his partner in a shootout, but they were saved by Flash and Magenta. Chyre and Jackam arrested Magenta, because she still had to answer for the chaos she caused last time she was in Keystone City.

(Flash II #171) - Chyre flew into a rage when the Children of the Cicada killed Julie Jackam. He told Flash that Julie’s grandfather was his first partner in ther KCPD, and when he died he made Chyre promise to watch out for her. Flash promised he would help Chyre bring her killers to justice.

(Flash II #172, 173) - Chyre punched Detective Morillo because Morillo was keeping him away from the investigation of Jackam’s murder. Their argument was cut short when the precinct was wrecked during a battle between Flash and Magenta. Chyre and Morillo agreed to help each other find the Children of Cicada. They figured that since they were both disliked by the rest of the KCPD they might as well work together. They found Cicada’s inner sanctum, and helped Flash defeat Cicada and the cultists.

(Flash II #174) - Chyre was promoted to detective and he and Morillo were made partners and assigned to be the lone members of the newly formed the Department of Metahuman Hostility. They collected the remains of Tar Pit after his fight with Flash and handed him over to S.T.A.R. Labs.

(Flash II #175) - Chyre attended Julie Jackam’s funeral and told Flash about his suspicion that Flash was Josh Jackam’s father. Chyre was wrong in his assumption, the boy was Weather Wizard’s son.

(Flash II #177) - Chyre and Morillo updated Flash about Josh Jackam’s situation; they were still trying to find a home for him.

(Flash Secret Files #3) - Chyre and Morillo met their new co-worker, Rogue profiler Hunter Zoloman. Murmur had slaughtered the employees of radio station KKEY, and Hunter did a profile on him that led Chyre, Morillo and Flash to his next target, radio station KKSS. They interrupted Murmur’s attack, but he escaped with help from the Rogues.

(Flash II #178) - Chyre and Morillo responded when Gorilla Grodd broke out of his prison transport. Grodd took them out of action with a psionic blast, and Flash was the one who brought Grodd back into custody.

(Flash II #179) - Chyre and Morillo were at the precinct when Pied Piper was arrested for murdering his parents.

(Flash III #180) - Chyre was prepared to adopt Josh Jackam when an article was discovered in Julie Jackam’s will that named Iris Allen as Josh’s guardian if Julie died.

(Flash II #181) - Chyre visited the grave of the Jackams’ on Christmas Eve. Fallout was unintentionally causing death and destruction in Keystone, and Chyre tried to take him own. Chyre would have been killed by Fallout’s radioactive powers if Flash hadn’t saved him. Morillo had a few drinks with Chyre on Christmas Eve, assured him Josh was in good hands with Iris, and told him they were now friends.

(Flash II #183) - Chyre realized there was something wrong with Morillo, and Plunder admitted he was an imposter, a duplicate of Morillo from a mirror dimension. Mirror Master then appeared and trapped Chyre in a mirror, eliminating another of Flash’s allies.

(Flash II #184-188) - Plunder gave Chyre a beating, and then dug a grave for him next to Morillo. As he prepared to execute Chyre, Morillo’s regeneration power kicked in and he burst from his grave. He beat Plunder senseless, and Morillo and Chyre went to Central City to see if they could help Flash in his war against the Rogues. They ran into Captain Cold, who wanted to undermine Blacksmith’s leadership of the Rogues, and helped them free Cyborg an the KCPD from one of Mirror Master’s traps. Chyre, Morillo and Cyborg found Flash, and helped him defeat the Thinker. Chyre and Morillo went to see Hunter Zoloman to see if he had any insight on defeating the Rogues. They found Hunter being held at gunpoint by Plunder, but the officers worked together to defeat him.

(Flash II #189) - Chyre visited Josh Jackam, and was pleased to see that Iris West had given him a good home. Chyre and Iris made plans to go out together.

(Flash II #191) - A giant beanstalk sprouted in Keystone, courtesy of Brother Grimm, and all Chyre and the KCPD could do was to declare Keystone a no-fly zone. Flash defeated Grimm, and the beanstalk disappeared.

(Flash II #194) - Chyre and Morillo staid at Hunter Zoloman’s bedside until he regained consciousness after he was brutally attacked by Gorilla Grodd.

(Flash II #195) - Chyre and Morillo reviewed what Rogues had escaped from Iron Heights after Grodd’s breakout.

(Flash II #196) - Chyre and Morillo went to Keystone’s general hospital when Peek-A-Boo caused chaos in an effort to see her father before he died. Flash convinced her to turn herself in.

(Flash II #199, 200) - Chyre and Morillo responded to an attack on Keystone by Zoom, but were unable to stop him from hospitalizing Linda Park. As Linda recuperated from a miscarriage a KCPD officer made a comment that it was Flash’s fault for being in the public eye so much. Chyre shook the officer and reminded him Flash had saved the lives of everyone in Keystone many times over. Flash took down Zoom, but blamed his tragedy on his public identity, so Spectre Hal Jordan made the world forget that Flash was Wally West. Even Wally forgot his own identity, and Chyre and Morillo had their ands full with rogues attacking Keystone once Flash disappeared.

(Flash II #201-204) - Chyre and Morillo tried to apprehend Trickster, who was involve in illegal street racing, but he got away. They discovered the frozen body of KCPD forensic scientist Adam Perkins, and soon realized they had a serial killer on their hands when other KCPD officers ended up frozen and murdered. They cornered the killer at a steel mill when Flash returned to the scene and entered the building. Flash was defeated by the killer, but saved by Captain Cold. Chyre and Morillo suspected Cold of the killings, and tried to bring him in, but he escaped.

(Flash II #205) - Chyre and Morillo pursued Weather Wizard, but he escaped after frying their car with a lightning bolt.

(Flash II #206) - Chyre and Morillo responded when Flash capture Mr. Element, the cop-killer, but by the time they arrived Element had been murdered by Captain Cold, who resented Element framing him for his crimes.

(Flash II #211, 213, 214) - Chyre and Morillo responded to an attack on the New Flash Museum, but by the time they got there they found Grodd, the villain responsible, defeated by Flash an Nightwing. Ashley Zoloman was involved in a serious car crash, and they took Wally West, the KCPD mechanic who fixed her car, taken in for questioning. He pleaded that he was innocent, but Chyre thought he was hiding something. Wally later admitted that he accidentally forgot to finish putting her combination valve together. Chyre believed it was an accident, but his Captain ordered him and Morillo to keep investigating.

(Flash II #215) - Chyre and Morillo guarded Ashley Zoloman’s hospital room when she woke up from her coma.

(Flash II #216) - Mischievous kids threw paint cans from the top of their building, hitting Chyre and Morillo’s squad car an smashing its window.

(Flash II #217) - Chyre and Morillo dealt with a crime wave committed by the Rogues as a way to honor their fallen comrade Captain Boomerang.

(Flash II #220) - Chyre and Morillo discussed how to deal with Dr. Alchemy’s attack on the GCPD with Ashley Zoloman.

(Flash II #221, 225) - Chyre and Morillo responded to a citywide battle between the Rogues and Trickster’s reformed Rogues. The battle ended thanks to the Flash, and Chyre and Morillo went to celebrate avoiding a catastrophe by getting a drink.

(Flash II #230) - Chyre and Morillo helped Flash take down Vandal Savage’s metahuman acolytes.
