Powers: Zod, like all Kryptonians, gained superhuman powers while under a yellow sun. He had incalculable levels of superhuman strength and invulnerability. He possessed the powers of superspeed, heat-vision, telescopic vision, super-hearing and flight. He was vulnerable to both kryptonite and magic. Zod was a skilled military strategist.

History:

(Superman I #684) - Ursa declared Zod pardoned, and made him the Kandorians military on New Krypton, with Ursa and Non by his side. They attended a military parade celebrating the birth of New Krypton.

History:

(Adventure Comics I #305) - Legionnaire Brainiac 5 finally discovered a permanent cure for Mon-El’s lead poisoning, allowing him to live in the material world once again. Mon-El asked to visit the Phantom Zone one more time, where he told off General Zod and Jax-Ur for tormenting him for centuries, and reminded them that good always triumphed over evil,

(New Adventures of Superboy #9) - Zod, Faora and Jax-Ur made a plan to torment Superboy, and force him to abandon everyone he loved as revenge for what Jor-El did to them. They used a telepathic burst from the Phantom Zone to erase the Kents memories of their son’s life as Superboy. This made heroics difficult, because the Kents questioned him when he disappeared in the middle of the night, and refused to cover for him when he disappeared from school. He didn’t want to reveal his identity, fearing that their erased memories were the result of a diabolical plot against him, and that the revelation could drive them mad. Superboy faked Clark Kents death, and abandoned Smallville. The Phantom Zone villains watched in glee as his never-ending devotion to his Superboy career was making him careless with stress and he was gradually being overcome by the grief of leaving the Kents. Their plan unraveled when the Kents stumbled on a space-jewel in Superboy’s trophy shelf that restored their memories and opened up a telepathic pathway with ther Phantom Zone, cluing the Kents into the villains plan. The Kents took a risk by setting their house on fire, but it was enough to draw Superboy back home
