Occupation: Scientist, Sinestro Corps member
Group Affiliation: Sinestro Corps
Known Relatives: None
Aliases: None
Base of Operations: Krolot (homeworld), Earth
First Appearance: Green Lantern IV #5 (November, 2005)
Powers: Gremlins were brilliant bio-engineers, capable of accelerating evolutionary pathways in other organisms and totally reconfiguring anatomy. His primary weapon was his power ring, which is virtually identical to the power rings used by the Green Lantern Corps, except that it only utilizes the yellow range of the spectrum, tapping into the emotional energy of fear. Gleen’s power ring was capable of doing almost anything he could imagine. Examples of its’ powers include flight, phasing, creating giant objects formed of energy, and force fields. Gleen’s power ring could also counter the abilities of any Green Lantern’s power ring.History: (Green
Lantern IV #5, 6) - Gleen was a Gremlin, capitalist scientists who lived to take
things apart and put them back together again and play with the evolutionary
capacities of different species. Gleen and his fellow Gremlins sped up the
evolution of a shark to make him the humanoid supervillain Shark and created a
super-evolved man in Hector Hammond. They left Earth, but returned years later
to check on their experiments, as well as taking the time to evolve a man into a
Grey style alien form. Hector Hammond sensed their presence and alerted Green
Lantern, sick of his super-evolved but immobile body. After checking up on
Hammond they took Green lantern’s old enemy Black Hand, who’d lost his right
hand to the hero. They replaced his hand, and his new hand killed any life that
was anywhere near him. The Gremlins then checked in on Shark, who’d become
almost completely animalistic, and confronted Green lantern, who was battling
the villain. They wanted to further modify Lantern and his foes and sell them as
weapons in an intergalactic war, but Green Lantern repelled them and handed them
over to Green Lanterns Tagort and Venizz, who’d previously been affected by
the Gremlins and were determined to apprehend every last one.
(Green
Lantern: Sinestro Corps Special #1) - Sinestro gathered Gleen and the Sinestro
Corps on Qward. Sinestro laid out their mission of using fear to make the chaos
of the universe bend to their will, and to replace it with law and order. Their
first step was to burn anyone that would oppose their plan, so they had to
destroy the Green Lantern Corps. They brought Kyle Rayner to Qward and stripped
him of the Ion entity. Sinestro made Kyle feel fear, and infected him with the
Parallax entity, which he then presented to his guardian, the Anti-Monitor.
(Green
Lantern IV #22, 23) - Kyle / Parallax battered Hal, promising him he’d feel
the same fear his father felt before he died. Gleen and the Sinestro Corps
joined the battle, threatening to overwhelm Hal. Parallax told him the GLC
despised him and had abandoned him, but just then the Lost Lanterns appeared, to
save him. Parallax killed Lost Lantern Jack T. Chance, and Hal and the remaining
Lost Lanterns retreated to Qward’s underground catacombs. Gleen and the
Sinestro Corps pursued, but were unable to prevent them from freeing Ion from
the Anti-Monitor.
