Powers: Grayven possessed vast superhuman strength and durability, and could fire disintegrating energy blasts from his eyes.History: Grayven claimed to be the illegitimate son of Darkseid, ruler of Apokolips. He inherited his father's power, but no one revered him, so he decided to take his birthright by force and conquer Apokolips.
(Green Lantern III #143) - Grayven was Jokerized and determined to conquer the world of comedy. He blew up every comedy club in Manhattan and took over a late night television show to try out his routine. Green Lantern Kyle Rayner and Jade defeated him, but he told them he planted a neutron bomb in the building to eradicate the audience if his routine didn't go over well. Kyle used all his power to take the bomb into the sky and contain its explosion.
(Superman: The Man of Steel #115) - Mongal and the Alien Alliance transported Superman and every last citizen of Metropolis by zeta-beams to the orbiting space ark. Superman fought the aliens until he met the Alliance leaders, and while Grayven wanted to fight him, cooler heads prevailed and they explained that this was an evacuation necessary because Metropolis would be a staging ground against Imperiex. Adam Strange transported Superman to the remains of Almerac, which had been destroyed by Imperiex, and told him Imperiex intended to destroy Earth in the same way.
(Adventures of Superman #595) - Darkseid declared war on Earth after Brainiac-13 attacked Apokolips. Superman came to Apokolips and battled both Grayven and Darkseid. Grayven revealed that he'd sided with Brainiac, who planned to remake both Apokolips and Earth into planetary computers. Darkseid slew his traitorous son with the Omega Effect.
