Himon had teleportation circuitry in his clothes for a quick escape, and a number of android dupolicates of himself in circulation.History: (DC Graphic Novel #4 (fb, BTS)) - Himon and other tech “wizards” were persecuted by Darkseid and Steppenwolf, and most of them were slain. Himon survived and kept making attacks against Darkseid’s rule from the underground.
(Martian Manhunter II #34) - When Darkseid abducted a number of Martians to Apokolips Himon did his best to free some of them. J’Onn J’Onzz came to Apokolips to help his fellow Martians, and after Himon saved him from Kanto they worked together to free every Martian that still lived and send them back to Mars with Boom Tubes. J’Onn stayed on Apokolips for years, helping Himon and having Himon help him quash Darkseid’s search for the Anti-Life Equation.
(Jack Kirby’s Fourth World #14 (fb)) - Darkseid’s scientists sought the x-element, and when Metron realized its utility to his journeys across space and time, he decided to side with them if they found it. Rebel Himon hacked Darkseid’s machines, and made his own bid for the x-element, hoping Metron would stay away from Darkseid if he found it first. Metron doubted Himon, and met with Darkseid, whose men were busy trying to find the siphon Himon was using to keep the x-element away from them. Metron agreed to “betray” New Genesis for the x-element, hardly a problem since he had no loyalty to anything except knowledge, and shook Darkseid’s hand.
(Jack Kirby’s Fourth World #16 (fb)) - Darkseid’s scientists found the x-element first, and Metron agreed to his demands to create space-time portals for Darkseid’s army. Metron powered his Mobius Chair with the x-element, and went off on a dimensional journey, He couldn’t stop the dimensional free-fall, and in desparation he linked his x-element with the one Himon was working on. His plan worked, and Himon admitted he was somewhat surprised that the chair worked at all. Darkseid appeared, he’d known that the x-element he’d found was unstable, and predicted Metron would have to link it to Himon’s element to work. He ordered his men to capture the hated Himon, who admitted Darkseid had surprised him, but he was prepared and phased away. Darkseid fumed that Himon was the most difficult rebel he’d ever had to deal with, and wished he’d leave Apokolips for a comfortable life on New Genesis. As long as there was evil to fight Himon would never leave Apokolips.
(New Gods III #9) - Himon used his phasing tech to infiltrate Granny Goodness’ orphanage and made friends with Scott Free. He gifted Scott with a Mother Box, a sympathetic computer of his own invention, but told him he could not directly help him escape Apokolips. If he helped Scott would only be physically free, he needed to strive to be spiritually free as well. When Scott was prepared he escaped the orphanage and fought his way past a troop of Para-Demons with Big Barda’s help. Himon and Metron greeted him and opened up a Boom Tube to Earth.
(DC Graphic Novel #4) - Himon found Orion, who’d been shot by Darkseid’s troops and was near death. Henursed himback to health with the aid of his daughter Bekka, whose existence he’d kept secret to keep her safe from Apokolips. Before long Orion and Bekka had fallen in love. Himon stole a canister of Micro-Mark, a technology capable of destroying New Genesis, from Darkseid, but the tyrant had more in production. Darkseid launched a war on New Genesis, and Himon and Orion countered by leading a Hunger Dog revolt. In the confusion Orion and Bekka saved Orion’s mother Tigra from captivity, and they fled on a spaceship, although Himon was shot by Darkseid and seemingly killed in the getaway.
(Jack Kirby’s Fourth World #15) - Himon found his old ward Auralie working as a lowlie, and gave her a mother box, telling her to follow its lead and help people. Auralie ended up on Earth, becoming a healer of the sick.
(Martian Manhunter II #19) - Martian Manhunter contacted his brother-in-arms Himon on Apokolips to learn why Darkseid had stolen the soul of JSAer Star-Spangled Kid. Himon told him Darkseid had constructed the Deus ex Machina, or D.E.M., a technoorganic machine that would attach to the Source Wall and send a soul into the Source to send back info to him about the Spurce’s secrets. Armed with this info and the D.E.M.’s location Manhunter and the JSA saved the Kid’s soul.
