History: (Challengers of the Unknown I #10) - The inhabitants of an ancient civilization invented advanced technology, and created a fully automated city. Government official Hunzar decided to wrest control of the city from the peaceful government by gaining control of the city. He was nearly apprehended by the city police, but a timewarp on the island brought the Challengers of the Unknown into the past, and seeing one man being pursued by many they instinctively helped Hunzar, who gained control of the city and became a tyrant. The Challs were returned to the present with no memory, but a year later they reinvestigated the Mediterranean island where they lost their memory. The dizziness came over them again, and they found themselves in the island's past, where Hunzar tried to apprehend them with fantastic mechanical devices. They fled, and were taken into the house of a rebel, who brought them to a secret tunnel leading to a bathyscaphe, which was to deliver them to the rebel leader X-2, the daughter of a righteous former government official. They saw an undersea monument depicting the Challs and calling them traitors. X-2 accused them of being spies trying to lead Hunzar to her, saying they'd visited a year ago and stopped her father's police force from keeping Hunzar away from the city's controls. The Challs memory started to return, and they were determined to make things right, joining up with X-2 to get past the city's defenses and take down Hunzar. They made their way past Hunzar's machines and grabbed his master control machine, but were again transported to the present. Prof. dived into the sea, and found that the Challs monument now praised them for freeing the city from tyranny, so they knew their side won.
