Powers: Infernus’ hands emitted intense hellfire and he possessed superhuman strength.

History: (New Gods III #16) - Desaad alerted Darkseid to the emergence of a power-source on Apokolips, a shattered sword of the Old Gods, and Darkseid assigned Infernus to retrieve the sword. Infernus was terrified of failing, because that was equivalent to suicide, but the New God Fastbak managed to keep the sword from him by hurling it through a Boom Tube to Earth. Infernus followed to Earth, and tracked it to John Hedley, who only had the sword briefly before Highfather took it back to New Genesis because he was abusing its power. Infernus was desperate, so he attacked Hedley, hoping he was lying about not having the sword in his possession. Orion showed up and defeated Infernus, yelling at him for daring to use his god powers against a mortal.
