History: (Green Lantern / Sinestro Corps: Secret Files #1) - Ion was a willpower entity birthed by the green of the emotional spectrum. With the destruction of the Central Power Battery both Ion and Parallax were unleashed on the world.

(Green Lantern IV #23) - With Kyle compromised by Parallax, they abandoned him as torch-bearer and made Ion’s safety a primary goal, sending the Lost Lanterns to Qward to free him. The Lost Lanterns Jack T. Chance and Ke’Haan perished, but they still managed to free Ion from the Anti-Monitor and return him to Oa.

(Green Lantern Corps II #17) - The Guardians learned that the Sinestro Corps planned on controlling the multiverse by controlling Earth, which was linked to the other 51 worlds. They were not ready to imbue another Lantern with the powers of Ion, but times were desperate. They chose Sodam yat to be their new Ion and torch-bearer and set him against the Anti-Monitor.
