Powers: When Jesse spoke the formula “3X2(9YZ)4A” aloud she gained superhuman speed, and could turn-off her speed by speaking “Z25Y(2AB)6.” These formulas functioned as mantras that connected Jesse with the Speed Force, and few other people can utilize them. When endowed with super-speed Jesse also gained an aura of unknown energy that protects her from friction heat and other adverse effects of super-speed. Jesse possessed superhuman strength.History: Jesse was the daughter of mysterymen Johnny Quick and Liberty Belle.She inherited her mother's superhuman strength, and her father taught her the formula “3X2(9YZ)4A” that gave her superspeed. Johnny hoped she'd become a superhero, but she was content to document the history of superheroes. While studying at Gotham University she had to use her powers to aid the Justice Society of America, and became the heroine Jesse Quick.
(Impulse #11) - Jesse and the speedsters destroyed Savitar's avatars and destroyed his castle, but Johnny Quick lost his life during the confrontation. Savitar vowed to go after the speedster's loved ones.
(Impulse #22) - Max Mercury and Iris Allen planned Impulse's surprise birthday party, but they needed a way to keep him away from the house. Max left Jesse in charge of Impulse and fooled Impulse into thinking he was being blackmailed by some shady characters. Impulse told Jesse his concerns and they ran to NYC and Las Vegas to follow Max and the hoodlums, all actually a disguised Flash. By the time Impulse returned home he was greeted by Max's party.
(Green Lantern III #81) - Coast City; Jesse was among the heroes who attended a memorial service for Green Lantern Hal Jordan.
(Titans I #18, 19) - Jesse got a visit from Nightwing, who needed business advice on retrieving genetic samples of Victor Stone held in Science City. She was hesitant, but after he taught her to apply her superspeed to a martial arts workout she gave in, and made the deal.
(Titans I #20) - Jesse broke up a convenience store robbery when Flash paid her a visit. He was leaving the Titans and wanted her to take his place. He convinced her she'd be a good replacement, and that she needed the team, and she relented.
(Titans I #23, 24) - Troia came to Titans Tower, but Jesse and the Titans no longer remembered her because of the manipulations of Dark Angel. Troia returned with the Titans of the Earth-Kingdom-Come hypertimeline. After a brief misunderstanding and fight between the two teams of Titans they started working together to go after Dark Angel. The Titans of Kingdom Come were risking damaging the fabric of reality by leaving their own hypertimeline, so they had limited time to work, and made up a cover story of being top-secret military agents. Tempest opened a portal to Dark Angel's netherworld and the Titans went in after her.
(DC One Million #1-3) - Arsenal tried to resurrect the Titans, recruiting Tempest, Supergirl and Jesse Quick to go with him to Mongolia to stop Vandal Savage from acquiring nuclear Rocket red suits. Savage defeated them and strapped them inside his newly-purchased Rocket Red suits. He launched Tempest’s Rocket Red suit at Washington, D.C. Tempest escaped the suit, but it misfired and decimated Montevideo. Savage then sent the other three warsuits and captive heroes into orbit, but they were rescued. They confronted Savage in Egypt, where he’d begun his war against the nations of Earth, defeated him and forced him to flee.
(JLA: Our Worlds at War #1) - On President Luthor's request Jesse and the Titans went to Zaire, Africa to battle an Imperiex Probe that had landed on Earth to hollow out the planet, but the battle went badly for the heroes.
(Flash II #139-141) - Jesse, Max Mercury, Impulse, Jay Garrick, and Flash celebrated Iris Allen's wedding anniversary. Max took pictures and saw a black shadow behind Flash. He recognized it from pictures he had of Flash Barry Allen and Johnny Quick before they died. It was Black Flash, the aspect death took when it claimed speedsters. Max and Jesse interrupted Flash after a fight with Weather Wizard and let him know about the situation. They hoped that by delaying him from meeting Linda Park at the Flash Museum they'd saved his life, but the Black Flash claimed Linda. Jesse Quick Jesse attended Linda Park's funeral. Jesse Quick filled in for Flash on the JLA while the hero was in mourning. A Manhunter sleeper agent attacked the JLA Watchtower, but was defeated when Jesse Quick reprogrammed him. She helped Jay Garrick defeat Weather Wizard, Captain Boomerang and Captain Cold, who were holding Keystone ransom. Flash decided to move to Scotland and said his goodbyes to Jesse. He gave her the wedding ring he intended to give to Linda and she broke down in tears. The Black Flash returned to claim Flash’s life, and Jesse, Jay and Max fought him, but in the end it was Flash who defeated him and returned Linda from the Speed Force.
(Flash II #170) - Jesse was going to spend time with Flash and Linda Park, but couldn’t make it because she had business to deal with, as usual. She acquired an I.P.O. in Pittsburgh for Quickstart, then had to deal with Typhoon, one of the villains dispatched to collect the bounty someone had placed on her business partner Simon’s head.
(Flash II #172, 173) - Jesse dealt with another villain that went after Simon. She demanded Simon tell her why he was a wanted man, and she didn’t believe him when he said he had no idea. Jesse received a call from Linda Park asking for help because Flash was having problems with the Children of Cicada cultists. The Children planted a bomb that destroyed Linda and Wally’s house, but Jesse Quick saved Linda from the explosion at the last minute.
(Flash III #183) - In an effort to eliminate Flash’s allies the Rogues bankrupted Quickstart. Jesse called Flash after discovering her accounts had completely dried up.
(Flash II #189) - Jesse found that Quickstart’s accounts had just been masked, and brought her company back to normal. Flash visited her and invited her over to dinner so she could forget the headache the Rogues gave her.
(JSA #34-37) - The Ultra-Humanite used Johnny Thunder’s Thunderbolt to conquer the world, and imprisoned Jese Quick and virtually every superhuman on Earth in stasis tubes, only reviving them when he needed mind-controlled slaves to serve in his personal guard the Thunderfront. Jesse served as a member of the Thunderfront when they attacked the JSA, the only heroes not under the Humanite’s control. The JSA used a device that disrupted the braincaps Humanite used to control the Thunderfront, leaving them unconscious but freed from Humanite’s mental domination. The JSA later defeated the Humanite.
(Flash II #198, 200) - The Titans made Jesse take a break from the team, and she threw herself into business at Quickstart Industries. Flash invited her to a get-together to make an announcement, but Jesse declined his offer. She was busy convincing shareholders that Quickstart shouldn't be bought out, an told Flash she was sure his announcement wasn’t that important. Later Jesse learned that Flash and Linda were expecting, but that Linda had miscarried after an attack by Zoom. Jesse helped Flash fight Zoom, and lent him her speed to help Flash defeat him. Jesse lost her connection to the Speed Force after lending Flash her power, but figure it was time for her to slow down anyway.
(JSA #52) - Flash Jay Garrick brought in Jesse Quick to act as the JSA’s business manager. She was glad to be done with the Titans, telling Jay that while it was a learning experience it was also something of an embarrassment for her. She also said that losing her powers seemed like life's way of telling her to take a break, as a speedster she’d tried to accomplish too many things without doing a solid job on any of them. She met JSAer Hourman and they went off to catch up on old times.
(JSA #53) - Green Lantern Alan Scott met with Jesse Quick while she was sorting the records former JSA Museum curator Alex Montez left behind, and Lantern told her she’d become a bit of a disappointment, after startring out strong in her career as a heroine she’d lost her focus. He was only trying to help in his own way by breaking this to her and told her she could talk to him anytime if she needed to.
(JSA #54) - Jesse, the JSA and JLA celebrated Thanksgiving at JSA hq. Jesse made cornbread for the dinner with Liberty Belle, and Belle hinted to Jesse that she should show interest in her teammate Hourman, since he was a superhero and he could cook. Kulak and the Warlord of Ys ruined the Thanksgiving meal, but were quickly defeated by the heroes. The JLA and JSA settled for ordering out, and had pizza for Thanksgiving.
(JSA #81) - Jesse came to Philadelphia when her mother’s powers went haywire. The JSA intervened, and Stargirl pointed out Jesse to Liberty Belle. The sight of her daughter allowed Belle to regain control over her powers, and they embraced.
(52 / WWIII Part Four: United We Stand #1) - <Week 50, Day 7> Black Adam arrived in China, and prepared to destroy the entire country. He defeated China's superhero team the Great Ten before China allowed Liberty Belle and the American superhero community to square off against him. Black Adam was a god with nothing left to lose, and each punch he threw was intended to kill. His savagery was winning the day until Martian Manhunter reappeared and flooded his brain with his own loss, the death of the entire Martian species. Black Adam was distracted long enough for Captain Marvel to hurl a Shazam bolt at him. Theo Adam was powerless, and left with amnesia. He staggered away unnoticed from the end of WWIII.
(Green Lantern IV #24) - The Sinestro Corps invaded Earth, intending to conquer the planet, making it a symbol of the Sinestro Corp’s power and their ability to control any planet. Liberty Belle and the Justice Society were among the heroes who helped stave off the invasion.
(Tales of the Sinestro Corps: Superman-Prime #1) - An army of Earth’s heroes, including Liberty Belle and the Justice Society appeared to take Superboy down during the Sinestro Corps invasion of Earth. The heroes focused on wrecking his armor, because after a year on Oa, and away from a yellow sun his Kryptonian body still wasn’t at full strength, and his armor collected sunlight. Superboy bragged that once the sun rose on Earth he’d be at full power. Superboy was battered by Wonder Girl and Wonder Woman, who blamed him for Superboy’s death, as well as Supergirl and Power Girl, who blamed him for the death of the Superman of Earth-2. As the fight went against him, Superboy broke down in tears. He tried to wipe them away, saying that it was impossible foir boys to cry, and then whining that no one ever thanked him for sacrificing his Earth to save the multiverse. The battle lasted until dawn, and he flew into the sunrise. As he achieved full power he declared himself the one, true Superman. The Guardians arrived with Sodam Yat, the new Ion, and pitted him against Superboy-Prime.
