Powers: As a Green Lantern, Katma Tuiwielded a power ring fueled by willpower, and capable of doing almost anything she could imagine as long as it was recharged by her emerald power battery once every 24 hours. Examples of its' powers include flight, phasing, creating giant objects formed of energy, and force fields. The ring was ineffective against yellow, the color of fear.

History: Katma Tui gew up under the fascist regime of Green Lantern Sinestro, who abused his power to rule his world with an iron fist. Katma Tui grew up to lead a revolt against him, and when the Guardians of the Universe stripped Sinestro of his duties Katma Tui was made a Green Lantern.

(Green Lantern II #124) - Green Lantern met Tui on Korugar and asked her for help in locating Sinestro. Korugar laws forbid her from confronting Sinestro unless he committed a crime on-planet, but happily directed Lantern to the Null Chamber where Sinestro was hiding. Sinestro tried to kill Lantern, freeing Tui to battle him, and with the battle turning against him Sinestro fled to Qward.

(Green Lantern IV #17 (fb)) - Years after Abin Sur’s death the Corps learned that he had a son, Amon Sur, and Katma-Tui, Kilowog and Tomar-Tu delivered news of his death to the boy and his mother. Amon was enraged that his father’s successor Hal Jordan was not the one to break the news.

(Green Lantern II #127) - The Guardians contacted Tui and the Corps after the Weaponers of Qward invaded Oa and held the Guardians captive, intending to use their immortality to construct the ultimate weapon. The Weaponers erected a yellow vortex that prevented most of the Corps from reaching Oa, but one member sacrificed his life to release Hal Jordan and the Guardians. Sinestro turned against the Weaponers when they revealed his usefulness to them was at an end, so he teamed with Hal to destroy the yellow vortex. Once on Oa the Corps utterly defeated the Weaponers. A number of Lanterns were lost, and Hal said it was a time for mourning.

(Adventures of Superman #430 (add to other issue summary) - Superman fought alongside Katma-Tui and the Corps.

Katma Tui fell in love withh fellow Green Lantern John Stewart, and later married him.

Katma Tui was murdered by Starapphire.
