History: (Dragonlance #4 (fb, BTS) - Kitiara hatched schemes with her half-brother Raistlin, but when she met the Dark Quen Takhisis she finally met a master worthy of her respect. She gave herself over to the Dark Queen, body and soul, and raised a dragonarmy to help her rule Krynn.
(Dragonlance #1) - Deathknight Lord Soth and an assembled army of Deathknights helped the Dark Queen wage war on Krynn. Lord Soth met with his Dragon Highlord, who was worried that followers of the old gods who'd destroyed Krynn in the Cataclysm still had followers that opposed the Dark Queen's dark gods. Soth said he had no fear of rabble-rousers, and trusted she could wipe them out with her dragon armies. The Highlord said only the dead had no fear, but she thought there was reason to worry. Soth, his Deathknights, and the Dragon Highlord and her steed attack a monastery of the Clerical Order of Majere, burning it to the ground. Cleric Vandar Brightblade and his ally Riva Silvercrown escaped the destruction, and Vandar recovered a Dragonlance from the monastery's armory.
(Dragonlance #4) - The Highlord assembled her army and descended on the keep of Lord Silvercrown. Lord Silvercrown told his knights they were about to enter final battle, and urged them to die with honor, but Riva appeared to rally them and proclaim that they could win the battle yet. Riva turned the tide of battle by climbing a parapet, leaping, and fatally stabbing the Highlord's red dragon. The Dragon Highlord challenged her to combat, and soon disarmed and wounded her. Vandar appeared, taking up the sword, and using the Medallion of Majere to conjure an exoskeleton. He fended off the Highlord until Fizban and Tip investigated, and she took Tip hostage. The distracted Vandar was fatally wounded by the Highlord's blue dragon. The Highlord saw that the medallion was burned into his chest, and was pleased it could no longer be used agauinst her Dark Queen, so she stole the Dragonlance and flew off on her dragon. Riva wept for her friend, but Fizban said his brightness would not be forgotten by the world, and he produced the Dragonlance, revealing that he'd let the Highlord take an imitation, and he was the one who left the Dragonlance in Vandar's monestary. Before he died Vandar recognized Fizban as an avatar of Paladine, the god of good.
(Dragonlance #9, 10, 12) - Lord Gunthar knighted Riva and gave her her own command unit. Thanks to Riva's bravery and the use of the Dragonlance the forces of good won the day. Forces of evil were still afoot, and Kitiara rallied her dragonsoldiers and looked to expand her sphere of influence to Nethosak, city of the Minotaurs. They offered the warlike Minotaurs a military alliance, and Gunthar sent Riva, Tanis Half-Elven and the elven cleric Loralon to Nethosak to counter with a trade alliance. Gunthar had chosen Tanis because he knew Kitiara's scheming ways better than anyone else because he was once her lover, and Riva was to keep her eye on him to make sure Kitiara didn't seduce him. At the meeting with Minotaur leader Bas Ohn-Horak he leaned towards Kitiara's offer, because she was a warrior and a conqueror, much like his own people. Loralon revealed that Tanis was with Ohn-Horak's brother Bas Ohn-Koraf when he perished during the War of the Lance. Tanis had no idea how he had that information, and wished Loralon would have alerted to him to his plan, but Ohn-Horak badly wanted to perform the proper funeral rites for his brother, and promised a greater chance at an alliance if Tanis led him to his brother's watery grave in the blood sea of Ishtar. Ohn-Horak hosted the night's entertainment, a feast eaten while they watched a Gully Dwarf run through a maze of monsters. The Dwarf was killed, and Riva was disgusted, while Kitiara enjoyed herself. Ohn-Horak said the entertainment was also an educational lesson for young Minotaurs, weakness was never tolerated in their society. Kitiara flirted with Tanis and baited Riva, who was still furious that she'd caused the deaths of several of their friends. The next day Ohn-Horak, Loralon, Tanis and a crew of Minotaurs set sail for the blood sea. Kitiara followed them with her black dragon, and Tanis told Ohn-Horak how she'd driven him and her brother into a storm during the war. The ship sank, and while sea elves saved several of them Bas Ohn-Koraf sunk beneath the waves. A storm blew up, and a whirlpool opened up beneath the ship. Kitiara reported back to Soth about the negotiations, telling him Tanis had been swallowed by the Blood Sea, although she knew he'd survived that trial once before. Soth said it was obvious she still had feelings for Tanis, even if she couldn't admit it to herself, and said that if Nethosak didn't ally themselves with him he'd see the city razed. Tanis and Horak survived the storm, finding the sunken city of Ishtar, where Loralon had planned them to be all along. They retrieved the starstones, ancient relics that Loralon knew would doom Krynn if the forces of evil got ahold of them. Horak refused to ally himself with Riva's group or Kitiara's, saying the Minotaurs needed their independence, so Kitiara and her dragonsoldiers attacked Nethosak. Horak used the starstones to summon several elementals, repelling Kitiara's forces.
