History: (Detective Comics I #791 (fb)) - Leslie Thompkins told Bruce Wayne she was taking him to stay with her for a while. Alfred agreed that the mansion was no place for the boy at the moment.
(Detective Comics I #792 (fb)) - Leslie went to Africa to set up a clinic, and although she had a hard time leaving Bruce and Alfred she knew it was her mission to make the world a better place. Bruce and Alfred visited her, and she told them her work was dangerous because warring factions made no guarantee that the clinic was a safe have. Guerillas attacked the clinic, but Bruce and Alfred fought them off. She knew the guerillas would return for revenge, so she moved the clinic to another township. Despite her best efforts it was no longer safe for her to work in Africa and she returned to Gotham.
(Batman I #564) -Leslie set up a triage center in Gotham's No Man's Land. Batman brought her former False Facer gang member Mikey, who'd been shot by his old friends. Leslie told Batman she'd never leave Gotham, and that her memory of Thomas Wayne was part of the reason. Batman admitted that one of the reasons he continued his work was because of her.
(Detective Comics I #791-793) - Leslie Thompkins contacted Batman asking for help, she had a pregnant teen in her ward who'd been shot and needed an ID so she could contact her family. Batman searched his computer files, told Leslie the girl was Neisha Dupris, and after learning she was shot with an ice bullet he went to see Biggie Tiny, leader of the Hill's Street gang, who was connected to Mr. Freeze. Leslie and Neisha were abducted by pop star L'Shea and her bodyguards and taken to L'Shea's loft. Neisha was a surrogate for her sister L'Shea, and L'Shea's husband Capo Siegel went behind her back and had Neisha shot because she was going to the tabloids with her story. L'Shea had her husband captive, and was waiting on Biggie and his gang to arrive so she could kill them. Leslie protested the violence, and insisted she could save Neisha or the baby but not both, but L'Shea ignored her. Biggie and his crew arrived with hi-tech weapons from Mr. Freeze, and Batman came to the loft and took Leslie and Neisha to safety. The building collapsed, killing Capo and Biggie, and although Batman and Leslie saved Neisha's baby, Neisha died. L'Shea took the baby and claimed it was her own.
(Batgirl I #56) - The gang wars turned Gotham City into a warzone, and Batgirl did her best to deal with the carnage. She visited Leslie Thompkins at her clinic, which she was operating under triage conditions to deal with gang war casualties. Batgirl asked Leslie where Spoiler was, but Leslie said she had no idea. She blamed Batman for starting the gang war, and said she had lives to save. Lynx claimed Leslie’s clinic as the Golden Dragons field hospital, and while Leslie said she’d treat anyone she couldn’t allow Lynx to drag the clinic into turf battles. Lynx was ready to attack Leslie when Batgirl defended her, so Lynx ordered her men to kill them both. Batgirl was more than a match for the Golden Dragons, so Lynx entered a trance to channel the ghost dragon martial arts. Lynx and Batgirl fought throughout the clinic, and when the fight turned in Batgirl’s favor one of Lynx’s underlings tried to interfere. He unsheathed his sword and swung, but accidentally struck Lynx, seemingly killing her. Leslie ordered Batgirl out, saying she’d turned her clinic into a morgue.
(Catwoman III #41) - Three prostitutes were savagely murdered in the East End, and Catwoman prowled the streets to find the killer. She caught Guillermo Duran in the act of attacking another woman, and they fought, but she was forced to let him escape when she saw that the girl, Virna, was still alive. Catwoman took her to the hospital, where she was treated by Leslie Thompkins.
