History: (Catwoman II #66) - M. Blackmont, dubbed Le Voleur Noir by the press, was the toast of Paris' underworld, and was invited to the International Thieves Guild as one of the world's greatest burglars. The Bouclier D'Arc, a shield reputedly used by Joan of Arc, was being displayed at the Louvre, and the Guild picked Noir as the first member to get a crack at it in return for a cut of the take. Noir's shining moment was ruined by the American Catwoman, whose fame was even more widespread than his, and the Guild heartily chose to give her a chance at the shield instead of Noir. Noir followed her to the Louvre, and pulled a gun on her, telling her he couldn't have his refutation damaged. Security guards arrived, and while Noir tangled with them Catwoman slipped away.
