History: (Aztek: The Ultimate Man #4, 5) - Lizard King was the star pupil of the Q Society, and he was to be their champion, guarding against the return of the Society's foe Tezcatlipoca. They had a falling out when his ally Emilio betrayed the Society by falling in love and having a child and King refused to kill him. The Q Society psychically lobotomized him, and Emilio's son Aztek was chosen to be the new champion. 19 years later Lizard King wanted to kill Aztek and usurp his role, believing he was too young to battle Tezcatlipoca. He tested Aztek's abilities by using the Society's magic to drain the life energy of a father and daughter, who powered robots sent to attack Aztek. Aztek defeated them, and having measured Aztek's skill he was ready for a confrontation. He kidnapped Aztek's friend Joy Page, tortured her, and called Aztek, demanding he meet him in battle. Aztek tracked Lizard King through the phone call, and the villain said he had a deathtrap waiting for him, a room where Joy was, rigged with explosions if Aztek entered with his helmet. Aztek took off his helmet, and blasted the King, who was unaware he could activate his suit manually, and Aztek found he'd been lied to, the "deathtrap" was an empty room. Lizard King told him the Q Society could no longer be trusted, and revealed that they killed Aztek's father, and without any other options raised him to be their champion. King put on Aztek's helmet, and promised to kill him quickly. King never passed the final initiation of the Society, so he couldn't keep the voices of past champions in the helmet silent, and his brain short-circuited. Aztek found the remains of Joy, who'd had all her life and goodness drained away.
