Powers: Lord Rinjin was an immortal dragon, who wielded Niburu Samsam, a sword blinded and sealed against Aratsu, master of swords.

History: (Crossing Midnight #2) - Lord Rinjin was a dragon whose archenemy was Aratsu, a Kami who was master of the swords. The Haras prayed to the Kami before the birth of their children Kai and Toshi, and Aratsu would claim Toshi as his offering for blessing their birth. As a teenager Aratsu came to claim his ownership of her, but she refused twice, and he promised awful consequences should she refuse the final time. When the Hara twins were younger they’d inadvertently opened a portal to Rinjin’s realm, and left their friend Saburo behind. Saburo, now Rinjin’s servant, gave Kai a poem to read, bringing him to Rinjin’s realm. Lord Rinjin told Kai Aratsu was his mortal enemy, and if Toshi submitted to him he would be angry, for then Aratsu would grow stronger. To demonstrate his anger he used Niburu Samsam, his sword that was blinded to Aratsu, to decapitate Saburo. Kai was furious that he’d killed his friend to make a point, but Rinjin said Saburo would not be able to die while under contract, and Saburo reattached his head, leading Kai out of Rinjin’s realm.
