History: (Marshal Law (Epic) #2) - Lynn Evans was a college student interested in journalism and what made superheroes tick. During The Big One, the megaquake that devastated San Francisco she met Joe Gilmore. They hit it off, and started dating, and she had no idea he was the infamous hero-hunter Marshal Law. Joe loved the normalcy she brought to his life and they ended up moving in together. Marshal Law was assigned to the Sleepman case, a serial killer who attacked and murdered sex workers he had dress up as the superhero Celeste. Joe spent some time with Lynn, and was disappointed to learn she was thinking of dropping out of journalism school, seeing the media as corrupt for not exposing superheroes for what they were. He flinched when she said Marshal Law was an even bigger fascist than the superheroes. She told Joe she was going to the Superdrome, an amusement park that showed off S.H.O.C.C.’s creations, to protest superheroes, and would be dressed as Celeste to point out how superheroines were objectified. The protest ended up being a bust, with Lynn’s fellow students only going with her because they wanted to see her dressed up in a skimpy costume. She stormed off, and was attacked by Sleepman, who killed her. Sleepman hoped Law would track him and every other hero down and give them just what they deserved.
