History: Young actress Laura DeMillie's career was ruined by a car accident that left her mentally unbalanced. Her schizophrenia attracted the attention of the sinister Brain and Monsieur Mallah. They used a ray device to suppress the positive side of her personality and unleash the evil half, which was named Madame Rogue. Together they formed the Brotherhood of Evil.

(Doom Patrol I #86, 87) -

(Doom Patrol I #90) - Madame Rouge gained super-powers after undergoing an experimental procedure performed by Brain and Mallah. She caused a series of disasters; a dam break, a mine cave-in and a ship fire. Each time she waited for the Doom Patrol to arrive, and disguised herself as one of them, attempting to infiltrate and destroy the team. In the end she was discovered, and forced to flee back to the Brotherhood.

(Doom Patrol I #93) - Madame Rouge passed herself off as a genetic scientist named Dr. Wilder, and convinced Robotman that he could have his brain transplanted into a cloned body. Instead she had the Brain transplanted into Robotman's body. The Brotherhood and the DP squared off, and when the battle went in the Doom Patrol's favor Madame Rouge helped her team escape by snagging a ride on a low flying airplane.

(Doom Patrol I #96, 97) -

(Doom Patrol I #104) - Rouge disguised herself as Mento and attacked the DP, provoking them to wreck Mento's home. The Brotherhood then launched an attack on the DP, but were defeated.

(Doom Patrol I #115, 116) - When the Chief learned that Madame Rouge had been forced into the Brotherhood of Evil by Brain twisting her mind patterns, he invented a psycho-ray to undo the damage. The ray reached all the way to Paris, and began to awaken Rouge's good side. Mallah and the Brain suspected something amiss in his compatriot, and began a booster treatment to keep her on the side of evil, reminding her that they had given her salvation by showing her a post-moral world. Rouge felt her mind unraveling, and her body coped by splitting into two entities, one good, one evil. After debating which was the true Rouge they battled, and the evil Rouge fell on a knife and died, leaving only her good side alive. Chief had Negative Man save Rouge from the Brotherhood's clutches, and sent her to save Robotman, who'd been buried by mutants that were attempting to end life on Earth by sending Halley's Comet straight to Earth. She dug him out, and explained that she was now on his side. Robotman suspected that Chief made such an effort to save her because he was sweet on her, and she retorted that a genius like the Chief had little time for love. Negative Man flew them at superspeed until they found the mutants new location and interrupted their doomsday plot, but the mutants escaped after causing a rockslide to slow down the heroes. Back at DP hq Chief summoned his team, and Rouge thanked him profusely, but he reminded her that he only brought out the good she already had in her. He split up his team to find the mutants, and eventually Chief convinced the mutants to save Earth. They flew into the comet to destroy it, sacrificing their own lives in the process. He returned to hq to have a romantic dinner of fine French food with Rouge.

(Doom Patrol I #117) - The Chief spent another romantic evening with Rouge, and seemed bothered when Robotman disturbed him after returning from a fight in which he lost an arm and a leg to a madman with an atomic ray, and told him to repair himself. Meanwhile Negative Man was trapped under lead by some criminals, and sent his energy form to get Chief's attention. Chief ignored him, but his energy form found a way to free his host. An argument ensued, and when Elasti-Girl got a call, she made her way to hq to calm things down. Her teammates thought Chief was ignoring them for his new romance, and suspected Rouge of being a spy for the Brotherhood of Evil. Elasti-Girl chided them, reminding them that they owed their entire lives to the Chief, but the boys were still hopping mad and quit the DP. Elasti-Girl suspected that they resented their father figure pursuing a woman they disapproved of. Rouge dismissed them as children, and after a heated argument with Elasti-Girl, they stormed out and left Chief by himself. Chief was soon attacked by Black Vulture, an old enemy, but fortunately the DP reformed in time to save him. Once Rouge was coaxed back, the Chief told the DP that as father figure he made the rules, and they agreed to accept his new romantic interest.

In a fit of rage, Madame Rouge destroyed the Brotherhood's French headquarters and fled. She later joined up with General Zahl and captured the Doom Patrol. The killed Elasti-Girl, and the remaining injured members of the Patrol went missing for a number of years.

(Beast Boy #4 (fb)) - With the death of the Doom Patrol Madame Rouge wanted a normal life, and fell and love and married. She gave birth to a daughter, Gemini, who was born a mutant with her same shapeshifting powers. She later told her daughter her life history, blaming the Doom Patrol for the emergence of her villainous personality, and claiming the Brotherhood of Evil's mission against them was one of righteous revenge.

Rouge and Zahl made a bid to conquer the small country of Zandia, but the Teen Titans and a new Brotherhood of Evil defeated them. Elasti-Girl's adopted son Changeling accidentally knocked her into some machinery that electrocuted her. Madame Rouge died repenting her actions.
