History: (Showcase '93 #1, 2) - The Maldorians observed the Earth hero Blue Devil, and were interested in his powers, which were a fusion of magic and technology. They sent robots to Earth to capture him but he defeated them. They hired the alien Morty to pose as his F/X man and observe him. Morty grew to like Earth and befriended Blue Devil, so he refused to complete the job by abducting Devil. The Maldorians were not pleased, and opened a portal to Earth to kidnap Morty and Blue Devil. They strapped down Blue Devil, intending to dissect him to learn how the magically fused costume attached to his body worked, but the hero freed himself, and used their teleporter tube to leave the planet.
