History: (Fraction #2 (fb, BTS)) - Mike's father died of lung cancer when Mike was an infant, and his mother later married a man named Bob McVee. His mother never learned that McVee abused Mike while she worked nights. Mike grew up to be unstable and psychotic.

(Fraction #1, 2) - Mike made friends with fellow bad seeds Trent, Pete and Ford at Liberty High and the friends got their kicks skirting around the law. As adults the friends graduated into robbery and other crimes, but their fun ended when Ford was caught by the police and sent to jail. When Ford was released from prison, Trent, Mike and Pete threw him a welcome back party at a dance club. After a few drinks the friends decided to relive past glories and break into a storage locker. They discovered an experimental M80 battle suit. Each man took a piece of the armor for his own, Mike ended up with the suit's gauntlets. Mike needed quick money for drugs and his lady friends so he coerced his friends into using their new toys to return to a life of crime, robbing the Kwik-Cash check cashing store. They were caught in the act by the proprietor, and Mike almost used his M80 gauntlets to kill the man before Trent pushed him out of the way. The friends took the money and ran. Mike later tracked down Bob McVee and used his gauntlets to kill him.

(Fraction #3, 4) - Mike convinced Janey, a woman he was interested in back in high school and the ex-wife of his friend Trent to go on a date with him. The date wet well, and Mike ad Janey started thinking about a future together. Mike's gauntlets started malfunctioning because, unbeknownst to him, Pete was trying out the M80 helmet's remote control feature. He took the gauntlets to Tony D, a fence and amateur electronics tech, but Tony had no idea what made the gauntlets tick. Tony called some friends to tell them about Mike's weaponry, but Mike found out and bashed Tony in the head with a DVD player. Trent called Mike and the others to a meeting at Pete's home, apparently the corporation that made the M80 armor equipped an assassin named Burke with a full M80 suit and sent him to recover the stolen armor. Trent already encountered Burke, and the friends tried to figure out how they would handle the situation.

(Fraction #5) - Burke burst in on Mike and his friends and attacked. The fight was going against Mike and his buddies, but when the police arrived to investigate the ruckus the creators of the M80 wanted create deniability, so they activated a self-destruct option in Burke's suit, killing him. Mike and the others hid their M80 parts, and told the police they were simply partying, but the police still busted them for disturbing the peace. Everyone was eventually released, except for Ford, whom the police suspected of killing Bob McVee.

(Fraction #6) - Trent intended to put on the full M80 suit and make a spectacle, drawing attention away from his friends from both the police and the M80's creator. He knew Mike wouldn't give up the gauntlets willingly, so he snuck into Mike's home, and after a brief fistfight knocked him out and took the gauntlets. Mike mistakenly thought Trent attacked him because he knew Mike was having an affair with Janey. Mike saw red, and planned to kill Trent. He jumped in his car and started the engine, which was booby trapped with an explosive by friends of Tony D. Mike perished in the blast.

Fraction was part of DC's short-lived Focus line. Although nothing in Fraction couldn't fit into the mainstream DCU, it's questionable whether or not the series is in-continuity.
