MIST I
Real Name: Kyle
Class: Human mutate
Occupation: Scientist, supervillain
Group Affiliation: Secret Society of Super-Villains
Known Relatives: Kyle (son), Nash (Mist II, daughter), unnamed grandson, unnamed wife (deceased)
Aliases: Nimbus
Base of Operations: Opal City, 1940s era to present
First Appearance: Adventure Comics I #67 (October, 1941)
Powers: Mist used an inviso-solution to turn people and objects invisible. A variation of the inviso-solution could be used to control the minds of others. Prolonged exposure to the inviso-solution slowed down Mist's aging process and allowed him to transform his body into mist at will. As Nimbus he could alter his size when in mist form and control weather patterns.
History: The Mist invented his inviso-solution and tried to sell it to the U.S. government. His proposal was met with scorn and ridicule, so he vowed revenge on the U.S. When WWII began he sent invisible agents to steal government secrets, and used invisible planes to bomb U.S. military facilities. He was brought to justice by Starman I.
Mist fought Starman I on a few more occasions.
Mist's exposure to inviso-solution turned his body into living mist. He joined the Secret Society of Super-Villains.
Posing as trainer Andy Murphy, the Mist grew friendly with Starman VI (David Knight), son of Starman I. Mist used his mind-control inviso-solution to force a fight between Starman VI and Starman V. During the fight Mist grabbed Starman VI's cosmic-converter belt, and was transformed into Nimbus. Starman VI broke Nimbus' mind-control and teamed with Starman V to battle the villain. In the ensuing clash the cosmic-converter belt exploded and Nimbus' body was scattered to the winds.
Mist engineered a crime-wave in Opal City that resulted in the death of both his son Kyle and Starman VI. Starman's brother Jack Knight took up the role of Starman and defeated Mist. His defeat and the death of his son drove Mist into catatonic madness.
