History: (El Diablo II #3 (fb)) - Horse thief Elmser Huskey got the drop on bounty hunter "Holy" Moses Stone, and noted that he was a dead ringer for him. He burned Stone alive, and slashed his face to match Stone's facial scar. Taking on Stone's identity he moved out from his home town of Halo and because his stolen reputation preceded him he found a small town where he was appointed sheriff. He fell in love with a woman named Dolly, and they were married.

(El Diablo II #1) - Moses' maintained law and order, and never left his town; his main concern was starting a family with Dolly. His peace came to an end when Monkey Joe and his gang came into town, claiming they were being stalked by El Diablo. El Diablo soon arrived, gunning them down, and he recognized the evil in Moses' heart, so he tortured him and carved "Halo" into his back. Moses rounded up a posse to return to his hometown to kill El Diablo, while his men debated if El Diablo was an outlaw, a demon, or both. Diablo stalked them the whole way, appearing and disappearing so they shot one of their own, and stringing up posse member Manny with his own guts. At a trading post Moses was recognized as Elmer, so he killed everyone inside, telling his posse El Diablo did it. In Halo word of arrival provoked his brother Kirby, who believed Moses had roasted his brother alive, but sheriff Cal Chaney locked him up before he could confront him. Moses spent the night with Ruth, a prostitute he knew in his previous life, so she could tell him anyone still in town who could identify him. He killed her, and made his way through town gunning down anyone who knew Elmer Huskey, including his own brother. El Diablo led him to a graveyard before disappearing. The gravedigger thought he was the real Moses Stone, and confessed to sheriff Chaney that he witnessed Moses shooting his own daughter, so Elmer was hanged for Moses' crimes.
