History: (Blue Beetle vol. 2 #5-7)-Since his childhood Richard Perignon dreamed of being an actor, but his father Vincent was a Mafia Don, and insisted that his son carry on the family buisness. Richard repeatedly begged his father to release him from his criminal obligations, but the old man steadfastly refused. Seeing no other way out, Richard adopted the identity of the Muse and organized all of Chicago's street gangs into one army. He intended for his army to overthrow the mob. His plans started to unravel when he was confronted by Blue Beetle II and the Question. As the Muse he demanded that his father quit the mob, but Vincent instead promised to kill the Muse and break his gang. This led to all-out war in Wrigley Field between the Muse's gangs, Vincent's mob, Question and Blue Beetle. One of the gang-members shot at Vincent, and the Muse suddenly realized his scheme had gotten out of hand. He leapt into the bullets path, saving his father. Mortally wounded, he unmasked and fell into his father's arms. He died moments later, a line from Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet" on his lips, an actor to the end.
