MYLA

Real Name: Myla

Class: Extraterrestrial

Occupation: Scientist

Group Affiliation: None

Known Relatives: None

Aliases: None

Base of Operations: Mobile, formerly unnamed homeworld

First Appearance: New Adventures of Superboy #1 (January, 1980)

Powers: Myla was immortal and invulnerable thanks to the bio-cures produced by her brain. She possessed an ultra-advanced brain and utilized a spaceship equipped with a scanning beam, a long-range monitoring system and energi-grapplers.

History: (New Adventures of Superboy #1) - Millions of years ago Myla and her mate Byrn tried to cure the space-plague that was wiping out their people by experimenting on themselves. They perfected a bio cure produced in their brain, but by that times they were the last survivors of their world. They flew off in their spaceship determined to repopulate on another planet. They passed a radiation cloud and survived, realizing that the bio-cure made them immortal. After millennia of wandering space they found immortality to be torturously boring and set about finding a way to age normally, since their brains would not allow their body to die. They’d invented an absorbent beam to transfer the aging factor from another being, but most lifeforms would not be able to use it without perishing. They were trapped in the spacewarp that brought Kal-El to Earth and realized that a Kryptonian under a yellow sun would be powerful enough to survive the process. On Superboy’s eighth birthday they met with him and asked him to use the beam, which would allow them to die and make him immortal, and an undying asset to humanity. Superboy played along, apparently used the beam on himself, but in truth he’d used his heat-vision to stop the beam. He picked up that the aliens’ condition was mental, and if they believed they could age, they would. The aliens mind-wiped his memory of that day, fearing he’d regret deciding to become immortal, and only the Kents remembered Superboy’s encounter with the aliens.
