PARASITE

Real Name: Rudy Jones

Class: Human mutate

Occupation: Supervillain

Group Affiliation: formerly Suicide Squad, Superman Revenge Squad, The Society

Known Relatives: None

Aliases: None

Base of Operations: Metropolis

First Appearance: Action Comics I #340 (August, 1966)

Powers: Parasite could drain energy, growing stronger and larger the more he absorbed. He could also sap life essences and superpowers.

History: Jones was chosen for the LexCorp lottery, promising rewards for one among the throngs packed outside LexCorp each morning. Rudy slipped off, eating doughnuts that were dripping in hazardous waste from a nearby leaky container, and he became the Parasite.

(Superman: The Man of Steel #4) - S.T.A.R. Labs was upgrading their containment facilities, but while Parasite was being moved he caused a power outage by biting into a power cable. He was free for a moment before Superman contained him, but the failed military test subject Angstrom escaped. Professor Hamilton devised a power dampener for Parasite, but it initially drew off too much of his lifeforce. When Superman returned Angstrom to S.T.A.R. the Parasite leeched off Angstrom's radiation to save himself. Happily this turned Angstron from a monster back into the normal human he used to be.

(Aztek: The Ultimate Man #9) - Parasite was captured by LexCorp, and asked to work for Lex. Rudy smelled a setup, but Torval was convinced someone finally recognized his combination of power and intellect. He was sent to Metropolis to go on a murderous rampage, ostensibly to draw out Superman. In reality Superman was busy stopping natural disasters caused by Lex's new allies the Q Society, and Lex wanted the Q's champion, Aztek, who was in the dark about being manipulated, to battle Parasite. Parasite was defeated after he tried to drain the 4-D energy that powered Aztek's battlesuit, and taken away by S.C.U.

(JSA #34, 35) - The Ultra-Humanite used Johnny Thunder s Thunderbolt to conquer the world, and imprisoned Parasite and virtually every superhuman on Earth in stasis tubes, only reviving them when he needed mind-controlled slaves to serve in his personal guard the Thunderfront. Parasite served as a member of the Thunderfront when they attacked the JSA, the only heroes not under the Humanite s control. The JSA used a device that disrupted the braincaps Humanite used to control the Thunderfront, leaving them unconscious but freed from Humanite's mental domination. The JSA later defeated Humanite.

(Justice League of America II #2, 3) - Parasite set up a business for himself in St. Roch, temporarily draining the powers of supervillains so they could go undetected by power scanners that most high-profile and government security had started using. Solomon Grundy hired him to shanghai villains for him, and after a number of disappearances the supervillain community started to get nervous. Black Lightning arranged a meeting with Parasite, but he recognized Lightning's energy signature, and knew he wasn't there for his services Before a fight broke out Trident and Dr. Impossible, teleported in to tell Parasite their boss Grundy was unhappy with him for reneging on a deal. They froze Parasite, and brought him to Grundy's hq in the Rocky Mountains. Grundy was working on a new Amazo android to serve as his new immortal body, and needed to transplant part of Parasite into Red Tornado's android body, which would serve as Amazo's shell. His henchman Dr. Impossible chopped off Parasite's forearm, but Parasite would be able to regrow it. The Justice League of America defeated Grundy and his new Amazo.

(Superman I #684) - Superman and the Science Police freed Parasite and the other criminals trapped in the Phantom Zone to return them to prison. Parasite took the opportunity to briefly pull Mon-El from the Phantom Zone to absorb some of his Daxamite power. Superman quickly handled Parasite, and he was briefly imprisoned, but the energy he'd absorbed made him strong enough to escape. Parasite was on the run and absorbed the life energy of a gas station attendant and patron. He reflected that the patron's attractive girlfriend would have been useful when he posed as Lois Lane to capture Lex Luthor's heart, and his thoughts were clearer because he'd retained the way Torval Freeman thought. He wanted to find Mon-El again, because with his power he could rule Metropolis.
