History

(JSA Secret Files #1, JSA #2) - Tibet; Speed climbed Mt. Kailash with Wesley Dobbs, and once they reached the top they contacted the Gray Man. The Gray Man gave them information about where the next Dr. Fate would be born. Mordru then appeared and threatened Wesley with everlasting agony if he didn't reveal what he knew about the coming of the Fate-Child. Wesley jumped off the mountaintop rather than tell Mordru anything. Speed left to pass the information on to Wesley’s old JSA allies and told his granddaughter Kendra Saunders that it was time for her to take on the identity of Hawkgirl and find the Fate Child.

(JSA #22) - Sand confronted Hawkgirl’s grandfather Speed Saunders to learn more about her background, since she refused to disclose her history to the JSA. Speed revealed that she was the reincarnated Sheira Hall, the original Hawkgirl. Hawkgirl had just learned the shocking news herself, and when Sand and the JSA offered a shoulder to lean on she became angry and flew off.

(JSA #67) - After Sue Dibny’s death Hawkgirl wanted to spend time with family, so she and Sand went to East Asia to see Speed Saunders.
