Powers: Tannarak was a well versed sorcerer and master of alchemy. Tannarak was immortal, but needed to steal the lifeforce of others to sustain himself. His conventional form of attack was firing mystic bolts of energy from his hands, and he was always armed with a sword-cane.History: Tannarak was born over a century ago, a British boy raised in Egypt. One day Tannarak and his friend Dianna stole fruit from a marketplace, and Tannarak was caught. The shopkeeper forced him to stare at a corpse as punishment. From that day forward Tannark was horrified of death, and would go to any lengths to cheat it. He became a master of alchemy, managing to trap his life essence in a statue, making himself immortal. After Dianna died he was completely alone in life. He found a girl named Michelle whom he believed was a reincarnation of Dianna, and attempted to force immortality upon her. The Phantom Stranger put an end to this unnatural scheme.
Tannarak was contacted by unknown beings who gave him the mission of starting a magic society. To this end Tannark sought any means of increasing his power, including joining the Dark Circle. Time and again he was thwarted by the Phantom Stranger.
(Books of Magic vol. 1 #2)-Tannark becomes owner of NY club Bewitched, and makes it a refuge for other members of the Dark Circle. He lures emerging mystic Tim Hunter to the club and intends to hold him captive. John Constantine bluffs Tannarak into releasing the boy.
