History

(Demon III #10 (fb), Demon I #7) - Klarion the Witch Boy sought refuge from his elders in the Beyond Country when they condemned him for learning sorcery that would challenge their authority. He fled to the earthly plane with his cat familiar Teekl and Jason Blood’s Gotham apartment for refuge. The Judge and his familiar, the Draaga, assaulted the apartment and Jason, as his alter-ego the Demon fought them off, but was poisoned by the Draaga. Klarion healed him and told him he’d be staying with his “uncle” Jason until the situation blew over. Jason went to a party with Harry Matthews and Randu Singh, but Klarion was apprehended by his elders, and summoned the Demon to his aid. Demon used a hex-sign to banish the elders, but Klarion mistakenly believed that the Demon was now his servant. The Demon shattered his illusion by transporting him off the Earthly plane.

(Demon I #14, 15) - Klarion learned a counter-spell in his place of banishment, and returned to Earth with Teekl, seeking revenge on Jason Blood. He summoned a group of zombies to Jason’s apartment, witnesses needed for a powerful spell. Klarion summoned a lost soul and made it into a doppelganger of Jason Blood / Etrigan. As long as the doppelganger lived Jason would slowly fade out of existence. Jason changed into the Demon and prevented the doppelganger from killing his friends Randu, Harry and Glenda, but his heroics took too long to accomplish and the Demon became an insubstantial spirit. Glenda found his philosopher’s stone and wished him back into existence. The Demon found Klarion throwing a party at Jason’s apartment, and after vanquishing his doppelganger he banished Klarion, Teekl and the doppelganger to the Beyond Country.

(Demon III #3-5, 7, 8) - Klarion cast a spell that freed him and Teekl from Beyond Region and arrived in Gotham City. A man tried to mug Klarion, so Teekl ripped him to shreds. Klarion found a newspaper announcing that Jason Blood was missing and Randu and Glenda had been arrested as suspects in his disappearance. Klarion knew he and Teekl were in for a good time in Gotham. Klarion went to eat at Hellburger, but when the proprietor tried to kick him out, saying there were no pets allowed, he had Teekl eviscerate him. Learning that D.A. Richard Jaynes was the one pursuing a case against Randu and Glenda, he showed up at Jaynes mansion, claiming to be a new boarder. Klarion kept Jaynes and his wife prisoner in their own house, and torturing them with magic. Jaynes said the GCPD would notice his absence from work, so Klarion commanded Teekl to guard the Jaynes, grabbed a briefcase, and said he was going to work. Klarion, feeling he owed Glenda and Randu something, cast an illusion spell to disguise himself as D.A. Jaynes and was present at their trial. He played Jaynes as a lunatic with no proof of guilt, and hypnotized the judge to accept Jaynes' rhetoric and steal a gun from the bailiff, aiming it at Randu and Glenda. Bruce Wayne was present at the trial and wrestled the gun away from the judge, but Klarion's interference wasn't necessary after all as Jason, who'd returned from Hell burst into the courtroom, proving he was alive and bringing an end to the prosecutor's case. Randu and Glenda were overjoyed to see their friend back from Hell, but he broke off his friendship with them, and told them never to contact them again. Jason had realized Etrigan was not only ruining his own life, but the lives of everyone around him, and wanted to leave Gotham and make a clean break. Klarion returned home to the Jaynes, but found Teekl had already devoured Mrs. Jaynes. He wanted no evidence of his arrival in Gotham, so he decided to send Richard out in style. He played "Night at Bald Mountain," had Teekl change into her humanoid form and dance with the D.A. before she ate him.

(Demon III #9) - Tenzin Wyatt, who'd been left in a catatonic state by Etrigan, created a raging demon tulpa to destroy the demon. Harry Matthews, who'd been transformed into a seat cushion by Etrigan's father Belial, was in Jason's apartment while he traveled to the Far East to seek the wisdom to control the demon within him when the tulpa burst into the apartment and demanded Etrigan. Harry didn't know where he was, so the tulpa turned on him. Etrigan seemingly appeared and let himself be destroyed by the tulpa, ending Wyatt's wrath and its' existence. Klarion then visited, telling Harry he'd escaped the Beyond Region and created the illusion of Etrigan to get the tulpa to go away. He promised Harry he'd turned over a new leaf, and although he still had hated for Jason he said he could do some good with Harry's help.

(Demon III #10-12) - Harry, completely drunk, and Klarion watched news reports about widespread death and destruction worldwide, including a rebel massacre in Liberia. Chief Dan Oraibi, a Hopi, was interviewed, and prophesized the end times were coming unless humanity changed its' ways. Harry wanted to watch a gameshow, and Klarion was mystified that he didn't see something truly terrible was going on in the world. Harry responded that the world had always been a mess, and yet humanity managed to muddled through. Klarion pressed Harry on getting revenge on Etrigan, and Harry balked that although he hated the Demon he couldn't allow to see Jason hurt. Klarion promised him Jason would be unharmed, although he had his fingers crossed behind his back, and said to deal with Etrigan's power he'd need to form a gang. Klarion started recruiting for his gang, tying up a doctor at Arkham Asylum, stealing his clothes, and demanding a nurse take him to Tenzin Wyatt. His ruse didn't work, because he was clearly a child in adult clothing, so he cast a spell on the nurse, turning her feral and creating a distraction so he could enter Wyatt's cell. Wyatt was still catatonic, and Klarion found he couldn't enter his mind, which was still a hellish landscape, so he created an illusory Etrigan, enraging Wyatt, who produced his rage tulpa. The tulpa crashed through a wall chasing the illusion, and engaged in a brawl with Arkham resident Killer Croc, allowing Klarion time to put Wyatt in a wheelchair and wheel him out of the asylum. Klarion brought Teekl and a severely hungover Harry to a Gotham river, where he used a scrying crystal he found in Jason's apartment to locate and raise up Etrigan's foe C'th. Klarion took his gang to the Jolly Roger bar in Gotham, and took a femur from the bar's namesake decoration, imbued it with magic, and offered it to C'th as a new rod of power. C'th was underwhelmed, saying it would serve, but that a true rod of power was soaked in the blood of a hundred virgins. He related his history, from being worshipped as a god in ancient Babylon to how he ended up in the waters of Gotham, complaining all the while about his new lowly station in life. Klarion told his gang it was time to put his plan into motion, and had Harry call Glenda Mark.

(Demon III #13, 14) - When Harry and Klarion's gang arrived at Glenda's apartment Klarion immediately showed his true colors, having Teekl threaten Glenda, and pressing her friend Randu Singh to use his psi powers to locate Etrigan. C'th tried to kill a homeless man he spotted outside Glenda's window with his rod of power, but only managed to severly burn him. He complained to Klarion about wanting more power, and Klarion responded that after they destroyed Etrigan he would let C'th sacrifice Glenda. Randu's visions revealed that Jason had gone to the far East to find peace with the Order of the Green Dragon, but they used him as a pawn to summon the intergalactic bounty hunter Lobo to Earth to destroy the planet and fulfill their cult's prophecy. Etrigan teamed with Lobo to procure an atomic bomb, so Klarion and company drove to Gotham's Woodside Military Base. Klarion hypnotized Major General Whitehead, who was pleased to show his "nephew" where the nukes were stored, and when Etrigan and Lobo arrived Klarion's gang attacked. Etrigan let Lobo take Klarion's gang on by himself while he rushed to the base's missile silo. Angered at being betrayed Etrigan told Klarion's group where Etrigan went while he went to find his own nuke on the base. Klarion's familiar Teekl followed Lobo to see what he was up to, and after transforming into her cat-lady form did a dance to bring him close so she could try to disembowel him. Lobo overpowered her, slamming her into a wall and leaving her in a heap before going back to his mission. Klarion and C'th focused their mystic power on Etrigan, staggering him, before Klarion ast a spell to turn him back into Jason Blood and stringing him up with cables. C'th demanded he be allowed to take Glenda as his sacrifice since he'd helped Klarion and the With-Boy told him to have fun. Lobo found his nuke, and the Phantom Stranger appeared to him, trying to appeal to his better nature to rethink what he was doing, but Lobo laughed him off. C'th grabbed Glenda, and prepared to kill her, but Lobo spotted them, and still angry at C'th attacking him unprovoked struck him, shoved his head in a tank cannon and fired it, blasting his head clean off. Glenda, with Randu and Harry following close behind, ran to the missile silo where she found Klarion torturing Jason with dark magic, and bashed him in the head with a nearby metal bar. She embraced Jason's broken and bloody form, and hoped he still lived.

(Demon III #15) - Glenda found that Jason was clinging to life, but just barely, and seeing no other choice she said the words that turned him back into Etrigan. Etrigan taunted her for her choice and teleported away to kill Lobo for his double-cross and end life on Earth by himself. Klarion, recovered from his head injury, snuck away while the Phantom Stranger appeared to Glenda, Randu and Harry to explain the predicament they were in. Every 13,000 years, halfway through the Great Tropical Year of Earth's orbit the planet entered an area of space that vibrated at a higher frequency, and at that time the chances of cataclysm were great. The Bible and the ancient records of China, Egypt and Babylon all recognized that every 13,000 years the world could undergo catastrophic change, and at that moment Lobo was set to detonate his nuke in the fault line of Meggido, Israel, which would unleash an earthquake that would knock Earth from its' orbit. Klarion reunited with Teekl, overjoyed that she was alive but furious with Lobo for having harmed her, and when he came across C'th's corpse he took his rod of power and charged it up to cast a spell on Etrigan and Lobo. Etrigan and Lobo were having a fierce battle on Lobo's bike above Israel, and during their combat the nuke came loose and plunged toward Megiddo. Phantom Stranger sensed all these events and had Harry use the minor magic he'd learned during his time in Hell to combine with Klarion's spell, sending Etrigan and the falling bomb off to the Beyond Region. Harry, Randu and Glenda celebrated the world not ending, but Phantom Stranger had to break it to Glenda that Jason and Etrigan were either destroyed or severely altered by the spell. Klarion told Teekl they were due for a vacation and drove o the Fun Land amusement park.

(Demon III #17) - Klarion and Teekl got bored of their California vacation, even Teekl mauling a surfer ended up being tiresome to Klarion, and he decided they should go somewhere else to cause trouble. Klarion and Teekl arrived on Paradise Island looking to cause mischief, but when a group of Amazons spotted him he was angered that they mistook him for a child and showed a maternal instinct toward him. After fleeing them he witnessed Circe slay Wonder Woman. Her soul was headed to the Halls of the Dead, but Klarion cast a spell diverting her soul to the Beyond Region. Wonder Woman had a brief tussle with the exiled Etrigan, after which her soul was able to escape from the Beyond Region with the help of the Thing-That Cannot Die.
