History: (Doom Patrol vol. 2 #44)-In 1875 Alexander Graham Bell said "Watson come here. I want you." These were the first words spoken on the telephone, and they were a form of unwitting magic of summoning that created the Telephone Avatar, a spirit living in phone lines. The Pentagon discovered his existence in 1943 and created the Ant Farm, a clockwork machine capable of harnessing the Avatar and his power. A faction in the Pentagon led by Major Honey dedicated itself to elimination of irrationality, and to this end formed the Men from N.O.W.H.E.R.E. I with the help of the Avatar. Honey's schemes came close to fruition years later when he kidnaped Wallace Sage and Dorothy Spinner, two of the world's foremost psychics, to boost the Avatar's power. At the height of his power the Avatar could remake the world in the image of reason and order. The Doom Patrol invaded the Pentagon, but was handily defeated by the Avatar. In desperation Dorothy Spinner called on her "friend" the Candlemaker to battle the Telephone Avatar. Candlemaker destroyed the Avatar, strangling him with his own wires.
