Powers: Tom was a skilled mechanic and engineer. As one of the New Guardians he had the power to bring out the best in people.

History: 

(Green Lantern II #81) - Green Lantern defeated Qward Weaponers that tried to destroy an experimental Ferris plane, and Tom Kalmaku tied up the evil-doers afterwards.

(Green Lantern II #125 (fb)) - The energy crisis put Tom's chain of gas stations out of business and he returned to work at Ferris Aircraft.

(Green Lantern II #124) - Tom attended the opening of the New Age Museum dedicated to space travel, which was shortly destroyed by Sinestro.

(Green Lantern II #125) - At Green Lantern's request Tom set up a sonar-activated burglar alarm over a portal to Qward, which would alert Lantern when Sinestro returned to Earth.

(Guy Gardner #6) - Tom watched Guy Gardner and Hal brawl, and decide to pursue Goldface separately. Hal took Tom to Chinatown where Hal suspected Goldface was running gold through a Hong Kong jewelry importer, but tom didn't like the vanity Hal was showing by not pooling his resources with Guy.

(Green Lantern III #81) - Coast City; Tom and his family attended a memorial service for Green Lantern Hal Jordan.

(Green Lantern III #102)- Tom wrote a book about his times Hal Jordan, but every publisher he showed it to wanted to focus more on Hal's fall from grace, so Tom decided against getting it printed. Carol Ferris offered Tom a job as project manager of Ferris Aircraft, and he accepted the job and moved to Indiana. Tom and Carol met the time-traveling Hal Jordan of 10 years ago. After a happy reunion they witnessed Hal battle Kalibak, who caused massive damage to Ferris Aircraft before being defeated by Hal. Tom was upset with all the damage done, but was still pleased when Hal said he'd be staying with them for a while.

(Green Arrow III #16 (fb)) - Kalmaku attended Oliver Queen's funeral.

(Green Lantern IV #18) - Carrol Ferris made Tom a full partner at Ferris Air, and he performed well despite feeling out of place in a suit instead of his normal greasemonkey jumpsuit. He met with investors, who were displeased that Carol, a former shark of a businesswoman, was always late to meetings.

(Green Lantern IV #20) - Hal Jordan visited Ferris Air and wasn't surprised to see Tom working as a mechanic despite the fact that he was now a full partner. Tom told him that his wrench was equivalent to hal s power ring, it made him invincible. He knew Hal was visiting to check in on Carol, and told him she seemed a lot happier since her divorce.
