History: (Spectre III #32) - Herb Johnson suffered from abuse since an early age, eventually developing multiple personalities, and when his metagene activated each personality manifested in a different body. Some were harmless, but some were killers, and he was sent to a mental institution for his own good, but kept escaping. In one bestial form he killed goats in a children's zoo, and in another he performed experiments on scientists, seeing himself as above humanity. Spectre caught him in the act of murder, and Twilight Man changed into Cry-Baby, an innocent little girl, and Spectre knew he could not punish her. He entered Twilight Man's soul, but Spectre and Jim were ripped apart. Spectre was willing to kill Twilight Man and all his personalities, but Jim said that wasn't justice, and forced Spectre to merge with him again. Spectre fought off the multiple personalities as he edited Twilight Man's DNA, removing his powers. Twilight Man mourned his loss, he didn't like being a killer, but he thought his personalities and powers made him special and unique.
