Powers: Typhoon can summon storms at sea by transforming into a human typhoon. He can control wind, rain, hail, lightning and tidal waves. His size increases as the storm does. Air pressure and temperature affect him as they would a normal storm, and when his storm is disbursed he returns to human form.

History: (Flash vol. 1 #294-296)-David Drake was a research scientist on the ship Neptune Explorer, as well as the inventor of the Manta, a nuclear-powered bathyscaphe. The Neptune's captain Anton Hammer bullied physicist Martin Stein into certifying the Manta and then forced Drake to test it out. A typhoon hit, and Hammer cut the Manta's cables, leaving Drake for dead. Martin Stein transformed into Firestorm, rescuing Drake. Hammer feared his actions being reported, so he shot Drake. Drake fell back into the Manta, and rain water shorted out its' electrical system, causing it to exploded. Drake survived the nuclear blast, being transformed into a human Typhoon. Typhoon was driven mad by the experience, he sank the Neptune then attacked Firestorm. Firestorm defeated him using air temperature and air pressure to temporarily depower him.

Typhoon recuperated in an Australian hospital, and upon returning home found that his wife had divorced him and remarried. He blamed the end of his marriage on Hammer and Stein, and intended to murder them. He killed Hammer, but was again defeated by Firestorm.

After spending a year in a coma he recovered and abducted his children, taking them to Pittsburgh. His next move was to find and kill Firestorm, but he changed his mind when he saw how distraught his daughter was. He backed away from fighting Firestorm, returned his children, and disappeared.

(Flash II #170) - When someone placed a price on the head of Simon, Jesse’s Quick’s new business partner, Typhoon was one of the villains who tried to collect the bounty. He was foiled by Jesse Quick.

(Firestorm II #13 (fb), 11, 12) - The original Firestorm seemingly died, but his archenemy Cliff Carmichael got a call from Firestorm’s old enemy Killer Frost, who assured him his old foe lived on in the new Firestorm, a matrix of the new hero and the old one. Cliff was reluctant to get back in the super villain game, but knew it would be worth it to see Firestorm suffer. He recruited Multiplex and Typhoon to his cause, upgrading their powers against their wills, and forcing them to obey him. Typhoon created a destructive storm in Detroit, Firestorm’s new base. Typhoon still blamed Firestorm for his condition, and wanted him to pay for the humanity he lost. Firestorm responded, and was ambushed by the villains. Firestorm reasoned that Typhoon would lose his powers over dry land, just as an acual typhoon did, so he turned the Detroit river powering him into vapor, and Typhoon returned to human form, and was easily subdued. Firestorm then took out Multiplex, but discovered that both villains had circuitry in the back of their necks. The circuitry drained him, at which point Carmichael confronted him, opening up Firestorm’s mind, and threatening to kill all his loved ones. Firestorm defeated Cliff, but the original, Roy Raymond, died in the process.
