Powers: The Unipods were gigantic cannibals who possessed a single leg terminating in a giant foot. They were capable of fleet travel by hopping, and often rested buried underground with only their foot visible on the surface.

History: (Dreaming #2) - The Unipods were the dream of a race of monstrous men found in Terra Incognita, the unknown land that the civilized world once thought was full of serpents and monsters. The Unipods were hunted for the delicate meal their feet made by one "Unipod" Ed,, who sold their remains to the Flying Dutchman.

It seems like the Unipods were based on one of the several monstrous species of humanity described in old travel guides and bestiaries. Anybody out there have any scholarly info?
