History: Validus was born to Lightning Lad and Saturn Girl, two of the founders of the Legion of Super-Heroes. Darkseid kidnapped Validus, mutated him into a monster, and sent him back in time 10 years. The mutated Validus became a galaxy-wide menace, and when he fell in the thrall of Tharok he joined the Fatal Five, becoming a deadly enemy of the Legion.

(Superboy I #190) - The Legion prepared to vote on their new leader, with Mon-El and Saturn Girlas the candidates when Tharok used a teleport beam to bring them to a remote planetoid. He planned to eliminate the Legion by having Validus, who was under his complete mental control, kill their leaders. Mon-El was overmatched by Validus, so he pretended to go over to Tharok’s side and convinced him to take leadership of the Legion. Once Tharok accepted Validus continued his programming to destroy the Legion leader and friend Tharok’s computerized side with his mental lightning. Validus flew off into space, relatively harmless without Tharok’s commands to guide him.

Darkseid tried to manipulate Lightning Lad into killing Validus, but when Saturn Girl realized that he was her son Darkseid's curse was lifted and Validus returned to his normal infant form.

Due to the events of Zero Hour Validus' existence was erased from history.

Validus received a profile in Who’s Who: The Definitive Directory of the DC Universe #25. 

In Bizarro Comics #1 Mr. Mxyzptlk gave Bizarro-Superman a crash course on battling villains, and afterward Bizarro had images of various heroes and villains fighting, including Validus, wandering through his mind.
