History: (Egypt #1) - Vincent Me moved from England to the US to become an actor, but instead wound up a drifter, seducing women and living off them until he got bored with them or they realized what a parasite he was. He found himself unable to form meaningful adult relationships, and filled that void with physicality and drugs. His girlfriend Candy kicked him out of her apartment when she realized he'd been stealing from her, and he bugged his numerous exes for a place to stay, but they all hated him. His junkie friend Tommy let him stay with him, and told him he'd met a religious sect that was going to take him out to the country. He had little idea about their religious beliefs, but was attracted to the two women in the group. He fell asleep talking to Vincent, who decided to take his place meeting the sect as a lark. The sect was a group of college kids, who took him to a house upstate, and said they followed a religion older than Christianity. Vincent drank until he passed out, but sect member Maria woke him up, tying him up and pretending he was Osiris and she was his wife and sister Isis. When Vincent came too again he found himself bound inside a sarcophagus. The college kids had been studying the Order of Osiris, who, in ancient Egypt brought the pharaoh a near-death experience so he could communicate with the gods. They were convinced they could become close to the gods of Egypt in the same way, but needed to practice suffocating someone to give them a NDE without killing them, and Vincent was their test subject. His sarcophagus was sealed, and after blacking out he awoke in ancient Egypt, meeting his wife Pesh6y and learning that he was a funerary agent.
(Egypt #2, 3) - Vin Centhotep quickly acclimated to the distant past, and felt the need to fulfill his primal urges. He seduced a young woman named Hopi, who explained they were living in an age of darkness; Seth had killed Osiris, and Isis was searching Egypt for her husband's body. Vin went to the House of Five Mouths with his wife, and learned that he was part of the Fellaheen, a people's army that demanded access to the afterlife. Their leader, his lover Aphotep, had plans for Vin to hide himself in a sarcophagus, enter the necropolis, and let the Fellaheen in so they could learn the secrets of mummification. He spent the night with Hopi, and woke to learn that he was a counter-agent working for the priest Soter, who'd guaranteed him immortality if he could bring down the Fellaheen. He encouraged Vin to go along with Aphotep's plan, gave him a necklace of the eye of Horus, and cut out hopi's tongue so she could not repeat what she'd heard. Vin tried to get Peshy to stay behind by telling her he hated her, but she realized he was just trying to protect her. He entered the necropolis stuffed into a sarcophagus, and let the Fellaheen in. They realized they'd been betrayed when Vin's necklace summoned Seth, who created a cutting sandstorm. Seth tore through the Fellaheen, and Peshy and Aphotep saved Vic, knowing he'd betrayed him, but loving him anyway. Vic felt Seth's presence inside him, and the godliness blew him apart from the inside out. Peshy reassembled his body, even though she could not find his member, and was determined to get him inside the necropolis again so he could return to life. Vic's spirit returned to the present, and he witnessed his killers burying his body. His ka ended up in 20105, and he haunted his killer Josh, causing him to have a fatal heart attack. Kim and Bobby investigated his death, and Vin caused them to have a car accident. He planned on killing Maria, but his heart just wasn't in it. His soul was sucked into a river of excrement, and he was forced to deal with the nastiness of his life, finally admitting to himself that he had inappropriate feelings for his dead sister. He awoke on the barge of the dead, approaching Ra, who took his ka in, and he was reborn as a infant in Egypt.
(Egypt #4) - Vin was now Khum Hetet, born to a wealthy family, and grew to be a spoiled young man in love with his sister who spent his free time indulging in pleasures of the flesh. He attended festivities honoring the gods and replaying the battle of Osiris and Seth. Seth won once again, keeping Egypt in an age of darkness, and he witnessed the triumphant god rising above Egypt. He ran into Peshy and Aphotep, and when he told them he remembered them Aphotep thought him a temple spy, and bashed him in the head. Khum remembered all his past lives, and sought them out again, thanking Peshy for ensuring his rebirth. They still wanted to unseat Seth from power, but Khum begged off, saying he'd think about helping. He tried to gain more information about Soter, whose beetle spies learned what he was up to. His men killed Khum's parents and dragged him to temple.
(Egypt #5, 6) - Soter tortured Khum, but when he revealed he was the reborn Vin Centhotep Soter seemed to go pale, and left him. Two handmaidens freed Khum, and drawing an Eye of Wedget, urged him to enter the home of the gods. He had a vision of his past as Vincent Me, the last time he saw his sister before her death, and the cold way in which he treated her. He met Nephthys, a funerary goddess, who had a secret to show him. She brought him to what she called the Valley of the Dead Gods, filled with mutilated Egyptian deities who still existed, and she admitted she didn't understand the significance, but suspected it had to do with Egypt still being in Seth's control even though Isis had resurrected Osiris. Isis made love to Khum to initiate a ritual, and Osiris revealed to him some of the knowledge of the gods. Back in Egypt, filled with mystical knowledge, he went to Peshy's home, to find that Soter's men had killed Aphotep and grievously wounded her. She wanted him to hold her as she lay dying, and urged him to find Vin's brother Hempa. He promised to find a way to bring her new life, and mummified her. He summoned Isis, and refused to keep helping her unless she brought Peshy's mummy to the Western Lands. He tracked down Vin's uncle, who hunted Westerners, restless mummies that wandered Egypt. He learned that Vin's father was soter, but before Hempa could speak more the Westerners were upon him. The Westerners sensed something magic about Khum, and backed off. Hempa took him to the necropolis, where the Westerners emanated from, and a horde of beetle-men attacked them, but the Westerners came to their aid. Making their way through the tombs they entered the land of the dead, and saw Soter with Seth, who, incongruously, was playing a handheld video game. Isis opened a gate to save them, but Hempa died during the strenuous journey. Isis made love to him again, and made it clear she thought of him as a toy. Osiris showed him around his garden, and transported them to various scenes of horrific deaths, accusing Khum of being owned by his urges, and demanding to know if he felt kinship to the god. Osiris accompanied him and Nephthys to the Valley of the Dead Kings where fresh bodies were laid out, but again Khum promised he had no insights to share. He woke in the god's home, and when Osiris and Isis had a disagreement Osiris left, leaving their dwellign vulnerable to Seth. Seth created a sandstorm that killed Nephthys, and Isis' handmaiden opened the Eye of Wedget to help them escape to a temple where Khum saw a colossal statue of Vincent Me in full pharaohnic garb.
(Egypt #7) - Khum and the handmaiden fell into a pit trap, and found them at the mercy of Soter, who revealed that he was the last disciple of the fathers, who used advanced technology to bring the Egyptian deities and the underworld to life. They used one of Khum's previous incarnations, who was mummified thousands of years ago, as a template, and the fathers intended for ancient Egypt to be completely static. Soter had tried to kill and recreate the gods with himself as a template, and had sown discord with them so they'd meet in a final battle, leveling the playing field for his new pantheon. With that Khum and the handmaiden were sent away from the temple. Khum reasoned that the gods were like him, in that they huffed and puffed, but rarely accomplished anything. He talked to Seth, Nephthys , Isis, and Osiris, and convinced them to work together for once to achieve something. He got drunk at a bar while the gods destroyed Soter's temple and destroyed him, freeing Egypt from its static nature. Khum and handmaiden Kandi ended up a couple, and he staged plays about his adventures. He found he was finally at peace with his memories of his sister, and Kandi informed him he was going to be a father.
