Powers: Vulcan exuded intense light and heat, and could generate bursts of magma and fire. He was armed with a large battle-axe. Vulcan was deathly vulnerable to sunlight.

History: (All-Star Comics I #60, 61) - Christopher Pike grew up idolizing the Justice Society of America and in an attempt to be heroic like them he grew up to be an astronaut. During a two hundred day orbit around the sun he snapped and killed his crewmates. The ship plummeted toward the sun, and Xlk-Jnn, a passing alien, saved him by transforming his body, making it capable of surviving the heat of the sun. Pike's ship crashed to Earth, and his new inhuman form horrified him. He named himself Vulcan, blamed heroics for his condition and attacked the JSA. He set JSA hq ablaze, and very nearly killed Dr. Fate. Xlk-Jnn came to Earthj because his transformation of Vulcan was flawed, he could now be killed by direct sunlight. Vulcan killed the alien in a rage, and Star-Spangled Kid used sunlight from his cosmic rod to destroy Vulcan.
