History: (Suicide Squad vol. 1 #4)-William Heller came from a family of idle rich businessmen, and his only pleasure was competing with his peers in equestrian sports. His only friend was Floyd Lawton, who would grow up to become the criminal Deadshot. On a fateful family outing his family took a wrong turn and ran into a race riot. Their car was overturned, and the family was beaten. Young William was the only survivor, and he was taken in by his grandfather, who filled the boys’ mind with racist propaganda. When William was old enough to run the family business he started funding neo-nazi and KKK groups. He eventually started his own, named the Aryan Empire. In order to gain more support for his cause, he took the costumed identity of William Hell, claiming he was protecting the citizens of Central City from crime. In truth he only turned minorities over to the police, and enlisted white criminals he caught in his Aryan Empire. Once he had massed sufficient forces he intended to drive all minorities out of Central City. The Suicide Squad determined that he was a threat and sent their operative Deadshot to deal with him. Deadshot posed as William Hell during a public rally put on by Heller, and vilified Heller as a neo-nazi. Rick Flagg, another member of Suicide Squad, was disguised as a member of the Aryan Empire, and apparently gunned down Deadshot. The false Willaim Hell has actually faked his death so Heller could never again take up his costumed identity. The assembled people blamed Heller for the death of their hero, and he was left in disgrace.
