Powers: Yellow Peri possessed a powerful spellbook, but her own inexperience often led her spoells to backfire.

History: Loretta York always had an interest in magic, and one day she discovered a spellbook, the only book to survive after the bookstore she worked in burnt down. She called herself the Yellow Peri and tried to use her newfound magic to try to help people, but her own inexperience led to disaster. Superboy was forced to avert the disasters she caused, and flung her spellbook into space.

(Action Comics #567) - Alan started a real-estate scam in Paradise Pines, Pennsylvania, and got customers interested by showing them Peri could keep them protected from harm with her magic. Clark Kent and Lois investigated the scheme just as Peri demonstrated some weather spells and accidentally flooded the Pines. Clark changed to Superman and stopped the flood, but next Peri grew a crop of food for the potential buyers, and anyone that ate it, including her, Alan and Superman lost their inhibitions. Alan told Peri he only married her to win a bet and Superman proposed to Lois. Peri stopped them from marrying, saying she loved Superman. Superman took her magic book away and found a spell to reverse everything she'd done. She returned to being plain Mrs. Grant, and no one remembered what happened at Paradise Pines. She soon found her magic book again, lying on the roadside.
