History: (Grifter & Midnighter #2-6) - Zee was from a star-spanning race that had used mindless beasts to destroy other planets for millions of years. She rejected her people's bellicose nature, and vowed to destroy their beasts. She had an opportunity when their supply dwindled as the beasts grew old and died. Their home planet was long gone, but chunks of it landed on Earth millennia ago, and they hoped to find a fertile female there. Zee went to Earth and posed as Prince Ydar Ibn Mahoud, enjoying pleasures of the flesh while she planned a way to foil her race's ambitions. She chose Midnighter of the Authority and Grifter as two heroes capable of destroying the beasts. She kidnapped Midnighter, brought him to a lab, and forced him to replay an endless VR scenario in his head. In the scenario the Authority were attacked by the alien beasts, and he was unable to save them from dying one by one until he himself died. The Authority freed him, but she was satisfied that he'd be ready to tackle the beasts after she'd tested his limits. Grifter was in Paris to kill the Prince, and Midnighter was there as his bodyguard. Zee revealed herself, and led them to a beast invasion in the heart of Paris. She was impressed with how they handled the beasts, and helped them finish off the advance force. She explained how they were going to help her save the world and destroy the beasts, but chose not to tell them how she was manipulating them. Her people showed up to kill her for betraying them, but she opened a portal to escape with Grifter and Midnighter. They found a dead male at the site of an asteroid impact in the Las Vegas desert, but were pursued by the shapeshifters. The heroes killed them, but in his dying breathe one revealed that Zee had been the one who kidnapped Midnighter. She told Midnighter what she did was necessary to save Earth, but he made it clear he'd kill her when he could. She opened up another portal, and they arrived on Mars. Grifter quickly went into shock, and Midnighter decided he'd try to save him even though he didn't like him. He found an underground cave with trapped oxygen, and revived Grifter. They located the fertile female, and the controllers were right behind them, with a male to mate with her. Grifter ended their union and the threat of the beasts with a special bomb powered by plutonium and Kherubim magic. Zee thanked them for ending the threat her species created, and opened a portal, leaving for her own destination.
