Mekhi Phifer appeared at an open casting call with a set of Polaroids in hand and immediately captured the attention of director Spike Lee. This landed Phifer his debut acting role in Lee's gritty Clockers.
Most recently, Mekhi Phifer was seen in Soul Food. He just finished filming Journey From the Jacarandas in South Africa as well as the lead roles in two independent features: Tony Cinciripini's Hell's Kitchen NYC, opposite Angelina Jolie, and Tears of a Clown. Other film credits include High School High, a cameo in Girl 6 and HBO's Tuskeegee Airmen. For television, he appeared in episodes of "New York Undercover" and "Homicide."
A native New Yorker, Phifer is also the chief adviser to a start-up talent agency and is currently recording his debut rap album entitled "New York Related: The HF Project." 11/9/98 5:24 PM
