Chessie's Home Cooking(con't)

by Arden Davidson (C) 1998

So Chessie scampered home
to make the buggles a nice dinner.
"An hour ago I felt like a loser,
and now I feel like a winner!"

But as she said those words out loud
a brand new thought occurred.
"If I let others give me worth,
my life will be absurd."

"The good or bad opinions
others give me shouldn't matter.
I can't please everyone -
not even with my prune cake batter."

And Chessie's right - from cooking
to fine sculpture to your hair,
some will like it, some will not.
You really shouldn't care.

We all have different tastes.
Opinions reach from near to far.
But if you feel you're truly good at something,
then you are.

I am trying to find a publisher or agent to
represent any or all of the
stories and poems in "A Pocketful of Rhymes". If you know anyone that can help,
or have comments, please e-mail me. Thanks!
