THE LORD'S COVENANT TO US

TAKE AWAY JESUS
Take away Jesus and I would have nothing to give,
without my Lord Jesus, no reason to live.
That is why when I am thirsty and dry,
it is to Jesus alone, that I cry.
"Oh Lord, its me again in time of need",
and I know this is why you did bleed.
I need your Spirit, your hope and blessing,
for today I will learn another life's lesson.
Into the world I go clad with your Light,
against all of the evils, I shall use your might.
That is why when I am thirsty and dry,
it is to Jesus alone, that I cry.

THE SECRET OF LIFE
As the Lord God was creating the world He called upon His archangels and asked them to help him decide where to put the Secret of Life
"Bury it in the ground," one angel replied.
"Put it on the bottom of the sea," said another.
"Hide it in the mountains," another suggested.
The Lord replied, "If I see to do any of those only a few will find the Secret of Life. It must be accessible to EVERYONE !"
One angel replied, "I know, put it in each man's heart. Nobody will think to look there." "YES!" said the Lord. "Within each man's heart it shall be"
And so it was........
The SECRET OF LIFE lies within all of us.

FUNNY
Funny how a $10 bill looks so big when you take it to church, but so small when you take it to the market.
Funny how long it takes to sevre God for an hour, but how quickly a team plays 60 minutes of basketball.
Funny how long are a couple of hours spent at church, but how short they are when watching a movie.
Funny how we can't think of anything to say when we pray, but don't have difficulty thinking of things to talk about to a friend.
Funny how we get thrilled when a baseball game goes into extra innings, but we complain when a sermon is longer than the regular time.
Funny how hard it is to read a chapter of the Bible, but how easy it is to read 100 pages of a best selling novel.
Funny how people want to get a front row seat at any game or concert, but scramble for that rear seats at church services.
Funny how we need 2 or 3 weeks advance notice to fit a church event into our schedule, but can adjust our schedule for other events at the last minute.
Funny how much difficulty some people have learning a simple gospel well enough to tell others, but how simple it is for the same people to understand and repeat gossip about someone.
Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question what the Bible says.
Funny how everyone wants to go to heaven, provided they do not have to, Believe, think, confess or act like Jesus.
This was sent to me, but its not funny that I am putting here on these pages!

AMBITIONS
Once upon a mountain top, three little trees stood and dreamed of what they wanted to become when they grew up. The first little tree looked up at the stars and said: "I want to hold treasure. I want to be covered with gold and filled with precious stones. I'll be the most beautiful treasure chest in the world!" The second little tree looked out at the small stream trickling by on it's way to the ocean. "I want to be traveling mighty waters and carrying powerful kings. I'll be the strongest ship in the world!" The third little tree looked down into the valley below where busy men and women worked in a busy town. "I don't want to leave the mountain top at all. I want to grow so tall that when people stop to look at me, they'll raise their eyes to heaven and think of God. I will be the tallest tree in the world." Years passed. The rain came, the sun shone, and the little trees grew tall. One day three woodcutters climbed the mountain. The first woodcutter looked at the first tree and said, "This tree is beautiful. It is perfect for me. "With a swoop of his shining axe, the first tree fell. "Now I shall be made into a beautiful chest, I shall hold wonderful treasure!" The first tree said. The second woodcutter looked at the second tree and said, "This tree is strong. It is perfect for me. "With a swoop of his shining axe, the second tree fell. "Now I shall sail mighty waters!" thought the second tree. "I shall be a strong ship for mighty kings!" The third tree felt her heart sink when the last woodcutter looked her way. She stood straight and tall and pointed bravely to heaven. But the woodcutter never even looked up. "Any kind of tree will do for me," he uttered. With a swoop of his shining ax, the third tree fell. The first tree rejoiced when the woodcutter brought her to a carpenter's shop. But the carpenter fashioned the tree into a feedbox for animals. The once beautiful tree was not covered with gold, nor with treasure. She was coated with saw dust and filled with hay for hungry farm animals. The second tree smiled when the woodcutter took her to a shipyard, but no mighty sailing ship was made that day. Instead the once strong tree was hammered and sawed into a simple fishing boat. She was too small and too weak to sail to an ocean, or even a river, instead she was taken to a little lake. The third tree was confused when the woodcutter cut her into strong beams and left her in a lumberyard. "What happened?" The once tall tree wondered. "All I ever wanted was to stay on the mountain top and point to God..." Many many days and night passed. The three trees nearly forgot their dreams. But one night, golden starlight poured over the first tree as a young woman placed her newborn baby in the feedbox. "I wish I could make a cradle for him." her husband whispered. The mother squeezed his hand and smiled as the starlight shone on the smooth and the sturdy wood. "This manger is beautiful." she said. And suddenly the first tree knew he was holding the greatest treasure in the world. One evening a tired traveler and his friends crowded into the old fishing boat. The traveler fell asleep as the second tree quietly sailed out into the lake. Soon a thundering and thrashing storm arose. The little tree shuddered. She knew she did not have the strength to carry so many passengers safely through with the wind and the rain. The tired man awakened. He stood up, stretched out his hand, and said, "Peace." The storm stopped as quickly as it had begun. And suddenly the second tree knew he was carrying the king of heaven and earth. One Friday morning, the third tree was startled when her beams were yanked from the forgotten woodpile. She flinched as she was carried through an angry jeering crowd. She shuddered when soldiers nailed a man's hands to her. She felt ugly and harsh and cruel. But on Sunday morning, when the sun rose and the earth trembled with joy beneath her, the third tree knew that God's love had changed everything. It had made the third tree strong. And every time people thought of the third tree, they would think of God. That was better than being the tallest tree in the world. So next time you feel down because you didn't get what you want, just sit tight and be happy because God is thinking of something better to give you ........... It is not today's burdens that get to us. Rather it is the regret of yesterday and fear of tomorrow. REGRET and FEAR, two thieves that steal away our today.

SMILE
A smile costs nothing but gives so much.
It enriches those who recieve, without making
poorer those who give. It takes but a moment,
but the memory of it sometimes lasts forever.
None is so rich or mighty that he can get along
without it, and none is so poor but that he can
be made rich by it. A smile creates happiness in
the home, fosters good will in business and is
the countersign of freindship. It brings rest to
the weary, cheer to the discouraged, sunshine
to the sad , and it is nature's best antidote for
trouble. Yet it cannot be bought, begged,
borrowed, or stolen, for it is something that is
of no value to anyone until it is given away.
Some people are too tired to give you a smile.
Give them one of yours, as none needs a smile
so much as he who has no more to give.
