THE OLIVE FAMILY ORGANIZATION

THE OLIVE FAMILY ORGANIZATION

The 5th National reunion of the descendants of Old James Olive was held in Muscle Shoals, Alabama in June of 1999. Daniel Olive should be congradulated for his hard work which made the reunion a most enjoyable event. The relatives present voted to offically form the Olive Family National Association. The next reunion will be held in Nashville, Tennessee in 2001. There are so many talented researchers in the Olive clan, I can only imagine the connections which will come about from this organization. It's always so exciting to see those relatives we know, and meet unknown cousins from across the country.

NATIONAL BEGINNING
The descendants of James Olive gathered for their fourth national family reunion in Paris, Tennessee in June, 1997. Those present determined there was a need to form an organization to unite the family for social and research purposes. The offical name, constitution, and bylaws will be adopted at the fifth national reunion in the summer of 1999.

The board of directors consist of one descendant of each of the sons of James Olive and a president elected at large. Membership is now open to the descendants of James Olive. The fees are currently ten dollars per year for a family membership and includes a subscription to the Olive Branches Newsletter.

Kevin Olive published the first Olive Newsletter in February, 1998. The first issue featured an article about Abel Olive written by our historian, Irene Kittinger. The May issue will contain information about Jesse Olive. If you have information, pictures, or articles to contribute please contact Linda McClellan or Irene Kittinger. Comments and suggestions are always welcome.
