William Olive is believed to be the first in our line of Olive's to come to America. He arrived in Virginia as an apprentice to a trade believed to be tanning and leather work. He served as an apprentice for seven years to repay the passage from England. The man who transported him to America recieved land from the government as payment on October 23,1703. From these records it is determined that William arrived in America around 1696.
The name of William's wife is unknown at this time. James, William, Edward, and Alexander are known to be the children of William Olive. At this time the research known to exist has been conducted by the descendants of James Olive. James was baptized October 3, 1713 in Gloucester County Virginia.
Descendants of William's other sons are still a mystery to our family. If you are a descendant of a William, Edward, or Alexander Olive who was born in Virginia around the years 1710-1730 please e-mail any information you are willing to share. There may be other children, but these are the only ones who have been identified by the family researcher.
