During Good Friday 1998 there was a lot of rain in the Midlands. A lot of rain. This caused a lot of flooding in the area. Below are pictures (taken by Lee Gardner) of parts of Leamington Spa. Click on the Pictures for a large view.
This is facing the Church at the bottom, of the Parade. On the corner (left side of the picture) was a restaurant. It has not opened since.
Further down the road. The shop on the right hand corner is a large electrical shop (Comet). They had a good 'flood damaged stock' sale.
The Building on the right is a cinema. The film being shown was - Titanic. Appropriate.
You can see the firemen pumping out the building with the water making an arch. However the water was just falling back on to the ground and running back to where it came from. It was most unfortunate that the white building (the Tax office) had a large underground car park (which was connected to the police car park and the Job agency car park.) The water went straight into these parks - and didn't flood our offices, which were next door.
