Introduction for Technical Users

OVERVIEW

Warehouse Management processing is split into two areas.

The selected print of picking instructions is where the picking workload for a warehouse can be controlled. (1).

Bin location control is the facility to create locations (independent of parts), inquire on their usage and check on locations that are not being used for any parts. (2).

1. SELECTED PRINT OF PICKING INSTRUCTIONS

The actual process for the selected print of picking instructions consists of three stages.

Firstly, picking instructions are selected by various criteria and can be inquired upon on-line. If at any time the selected advice note details aren't satisfactory, they can be cancelled and re-selected. (1.1).

Printed details of the selected advice notes can also be requested. (1.2).

Once all the required advice notes have been selected, picking release can be confirmed. (1.3).

1.1 SELECT PICKING INSTRUCTIONS

PW10

This transaction allows advice note details to be selected for the signed-on warehouse. Other selection criteria are delivery route, service and method, carrier, order type, creation date, home/export code, customer type, customer marketing unit and number and by the specific advice note number.

Transfer-allocated advice notes that are for final dispatch from another warehouse can also be selected if the customer number of that final dispatch warehouse is entered as selection.

An enquiry facility enables the user to look at the current picking selection criteria for the signed-on warehouse.

There is also a cancel facility, as only one selection can be in progress for a warehouse at any one time. Once cancelled, new parameters can be added.

PW1A

This program reads through all the advice notes awaiting selection at the sign-on warehouse and records all those which match the selected criteria.

This selection can then be viewed in two ways.

PW11

This transaction shows a list of all the selected advice notes in selection priority sequence. Against each advice note displayed are the advice note details which can be used as selection criteria. In addition the total weight, quantity and number of supplied lines on each advice note are totalled at the bottom of the screen.

PW12

This transaction displays the same advice note details selected, but shows the quantity and number of supplied lines for each picking zone.

1.2 PRINT SELECTED ADVICE NOTE DETAILS

PW10

This transaction can be used to initiate the various reports for the selected advice note details.

PW1B

Once initiated this program will produce three reports, for the selected advice note details, selection parameters (PW10), advice note details (PW11) and the number of lines by zone (PW12).

1.3 CONFIRM PICKING RELEASE

PW13

This transaction is used to confirm either all or part of the current selection for the sign-on warehouse. The selection can be broken down into either a fixed number of lines or the number of advice notes to be picked.

If a number of lines have been selected, whole advice notes will be selected until the specified number of lines has been exceeded.

PW1C

This program reads through all the advice notes, which have previously been selected, and triggers them and any associated picking labels for printing.

Once the current selection has been confirmed, new selection details can be added.

2. BIN LOCATION CONTROL

The facility to maintain location details enables the user to create, inquire (on their usage) and view available bin locations. (2.1).

Automatic allocation is a process external to warehouse management which allocates available bin locations.

2.1 MAINTAIN LOCATION DETAILS

PW20

This transaction enables the user to create a new location at the sign-on warehouse. Although the zone is automatically set it can be changed along with the bin type, priority, dimensions and status.

An enquiry facility allows the user to view details for a given location.

PW40

This transaction lists all locations which have been created for the sign-on warehouse but are not yet being used by parts i.e. have a status of 'FREE'. These locations can viewed by a given zone and additionally a given bin type.

PW30

This transaction shows part details for picking, bulk and non-allocatable locations only, where the given location is for the sign-on warehouse.
