From the "History of Crawford County Missouri" (or something to that effect):
"Elijah and Avis built a log house on their homestead called Pyatt Hollow and raised the eight children. Avis's son, Daniel and Margaret (Mary) raised their seven children in that log house. Her grandson Daniel Washington (Wash) also lived there. Most of his children were born in that log house too." Elijah was Daniel's step-father and also his Uncle (being the brother of Daniel's father, Benjamin)."
"Esco farmed and cut railroad ties for a living. She [Eula] always helped keep a garden and sometimes worked in the field helping him farm until all the children got big enough to take her place. Around 1930, he moved to a farm near Sligo, MO., to help his brother-in-law, Harry Green farm. Then about 5 years later he moved back to Davisville. Esco and Eula accepted Christ at the early age of 21. Esco became a bible scholar and he taught a bible class for 40 years. Esco and Eula had a rough time trying to make a living during the depression years. Esco worked on the WPA or anywhere he could find a job. It was hard times and it was difficult to keep his family fed. Somehow Esco and Eula did provide for their family. They had always prayed that they would live until all of their children were full grown. And sure enough that happened. Eula d. 10-16-77, she was buried on her 56th wedding anniversary at age 75, Esco d. 2-16-83, age 82, both are buried at Davisville Cemetery."
