According to the 1850 census of Nicholas County, Virginia, there was a George Peatt (listed as a farmer) living with John and Nancy Kyle, in dwelling #270, while likely brothers William, Andrew, Dianah and John lived with their mother, Margaret (ie. Mary Margaret Smith Pyatt) in dwelling #573. George was 15 years old which makes him the right age to be the son of William and Mary and the right age to be George W Peyatt of this page.

We do not know where the George from Nicholas County was on the 1860 census, but, on the 1870 census of Jackson Co, WV, Mill Creek Twp, we find our George W as follows:

This family enumerated #49/49 8 June 1870 on page 349B. At dwelling #42/42 was William Peyatt age 41 born in Virginia who is the right age to be another son of William and Mary Smith Pyatt - making him George's brother. William had a wife Lucinda, age 20, and sons Thomas R, age 1, and Lanza M, age 1 month.
