Margaret M Pyeatt and Samuel King

Margaret M Pyeatt was born c1839 in Washington County, Arkansas to Peter Paulus Pyeatt and Lavina Cox. Margaret died sometime after 1884 (probably in Texas). Margaret married on July 20, 1854, in Washington County, Arkansas, Samuel King who was born c1833 in Arkansas.

The known children of Samuel and Margaret were:

Martha King b: c1858 AR (probably Cove Creek Twp, Washington Co, AR)

Samuel and Margaret appeared as follows on the 1860 census of Cove Creek Township, Washington County, Arkansas:

King, Samuel age 27 born AR / wm / Farmer / $640/200

King, Margarett age 21 born AR / wf

King, Julia age 3 born AR / wf

King, Martha age 2 born AR / wf

Hodges, Mary age 23 born AR / wf / $500/$50

Hodges, Caswell age 5 born AR / wm

Hodges, Irene age 2 born AR / wf

Hodges, William age 6/12 born AR / wm

This family was enumerated #197/43 (stamped pg 507). Margaret's sister, Mary Pyeatt Hodges, was the widow of William D Hodges.

It is said that Samuel and Margaret moved to Texas. That is not surprising considering that many of Margaret's sister also removed to Texas in the 1870s. Many were in Bell County, Texas on the 1880 census.

These sisters and family included: Martha S Pyeatt Crawford Gregory with her husband, Phillip Gregory, and children as well as some of her children from her first marriage to Andrew B Crawford; Nancy E Pyeatt Stout widow of William Stout; Sarah A Pyeatt Gregory with her husband, George L Gregory and their family.
