In a deed from William and Sarah Inks, Andrew and Catherine McClure are mentioned. The deed is dated July 1829. There is a History of Saint Louis City and County, published 1883 written by J. Thomas Scharf. On page 1922 of Vol 2, Benjamin Griffin Brown, Willaim Inks and William C (as well as the Votaws, also related to us) are mentioned. Also p 1924. Sarah Inks is on p 1946 and the Inks Cemetery and the McClure Cemetery are mentioned there. On p 1923, it says Josiah McClure died in 1826. Josiah McClure, Andrew's father, "donated an acre of ground as a public cemetery at a very early date. It still bears his name. (p 1923) Josiah came from Bowling Green KY in 1819, married Sarah Harris in VA 4/16/1793, they had 8 daughters and one son, Andrew, the sixth child. Andrew b 10/21/1805 became a Presbyterian minister. "He was a widely known citizen and died on Nov 1, 1877, leaving one son, William, and three daughters alive." In 1850, Meramec Twp had a population of 1921; in 1860, 2468, and by 1880 had 7923 people.

I inadvertantly wrote that his son became a minister.
Date: 1 Nov 2003 From: Charles Fields fingorfi@swbell.net To: mcpgene@excite.com Subject: McClures Hi, I noticed your family posted. You have an Andrew McClure Pyeatt b. MO as part of your family. Courious. Could he be part of the McClure family that migrated from Augusta Co. VA to Madison & Warren Co. KY to MO and on to TX??? My McClure connection begins when Jonathan Burleson b. 1790 NC married Rebecca Ellen McClure b. 1794 Madison Co. KY and marry in Warren Co. KY 1811. They go to MO before 1820 probably following her family. Jonathan is a Cumberland Presb. minister. They go to TX and both died there. Rebecca died in San Saba. Rebecca's parents are Josiah McClure b. 1752 Augusta VA and Sarah Harris b. 1775 in VA. Josiah's parents are: Andrew McClure b. abt 1720 in Ireland and Eleanor Wright. Andrew & Eleanor had several children. One son Andrew McClure became a minister and married a Rebecka Allen. Let me know if we connect. I have a little more information if you'd like to add it to your tree, if it is the same line.
Date: 1 Nov 2003 From: Charles Fields fingorfi@swbell.net To: mcpgene@excite.com Subject: McClure Research Hi, I found your McClure notes posted on the net by going through google & typing in "andrew mcclure". I noticed your notes refered to my line. My family connects to the McClure when Rebecca Ellen McClure b. 1794 in Madison KY marries Jonathan Burleson b. 1790 Rutherford Co. NC. They marry in 1811 in Warren Co. KY . They have their 1st 4 children then then travel to MO possibly following her family. Rebecca's parents are Josiah McClure & Sarah Harris. They die in Merrimac, St. Louis, MO Josiah's dad was Andrew McClure who married Eleanor Wright. Josiah had a brother named Andrew who was a Pres. Minister. He married Rebecka Alllen (I think). Josiah's grandparents were James McClure b. ireland & Agnes ?? b. tradition says Ireland but I've also seen VA. Forgive me, I'm trying to do all this off the top of my head. If interested I'll get all facts out and send them to you. Rev. Jonathan Burleson was a Cumberland Pres. Minister. One of Jonathan's & Rebecca's son Rev. Andrew McClure Burleson b. 1821 b. Crawford Co MO m. Sarah M Welch b. in TN. This Andrew gave birth to my grandfather, Andrew McClure Burleson b. 1864 m. Mary Luella (Luellen) "Lula" Morrison b. 1874 Dent Co MO. Rev. Jonathan & Rebecca Ellen McClure Burleson move to Texas where they both died and are buried. Jonathan in Hopkinsville, Gonzales Co. TX and after his death, Rebecca moved to be near or live with a child and died in Sonora, TX and is buried in Comfort?,San Saba, TX Rev. Andrew McClure Burleson and Sarah Welch stayed in Dent Co where he served as minister of the Dry Fork Baptist Church. This was a primitive Baptist Church with the teachings and philosophy of the Cumberland Pres. Church. They both died and are buried in the Coppedge Cemetery in Lake Springs, Dent Co. MO. My grandfather, we believe---can't find proof, was the misister of Cash Primitive Baptist Church. This is no longer a functioning church so we've not been able to locate anyone who knows anything about it. Cash is a small community in Kaufman Co. TX. Both grandma & grandpa Burleson are buried behind the church along with one of their children. Please contact me if this looks familiar and need additional info. Would love to exchange. Sincerely Margaret Fields
