Moses and Elizabeth had the following known children:
In Whitley County, Indiana, 'Moses Pyatt of Seneca County, Ohio' purchased 'the South West quarter of section six in township thirty-two, north of range nine East; in the District of Lands subject to sale at Fort Wayne Indiana containing one hundred and forty acres and thirty-six hundredths of an acre' it was signed 6/5/1837.
By the fall of 1839, Moses had moved his family from Ohio to LaGrange County, Indiana. They stayed three years, moved to Kendall County, Illinois, from about 1842 to 1845 and then returned to LaGrange County, Indiana. I do not have an abstract of Moses on the 1840 census.
The family appeared as follows on the 1850 census of Milford Township, LaGrange County, Indiana:
This family was enumerated 445/447 pg ?. Neighbors were #440 Elijah Webster, #441 Major Rice, #442 William Towson, #443 Samuel Day, #444 Gary Newnham, #446 David Patton, #447 John Nichols, #448 William Sawyer, #449 Andrew Durand, and #450 Luther Nesbit. Neighbors of Moses that might be one of his married daughters include: Harriet Day (wife of Samuel) age 27 born Ohio; Elizabeth Reed (wife of Amaziah) age 25 born Ohio; Eliza Howard (wife of David) age 27 born Ohio; Matilda Martin (wife of William) age 23 born Ohio; Charity Austin (wife of Richard) age 20 born Ohio.
I do not have Pyatt/Piatt marriages for LaGrange County, Indiana.
The following appeared in the "1882 History of La Grange County Indiana" F.A. Battey & Co, 1882. It gives some information on Andrew J Pyatt and his parents: "J. PYATT owns 200 acres of well-improved land in Section 33, of this township. He is native of Ohio, born in Seneca County, March 5, 1829, and first came to this county with his parents, Moses and Elizabeth (Parker) Pyatt, who were of French and Irish descent, in the fall of 1839, where they remained three years; then went to Kendall County, Ill., resided three years and returned. The mother died May 9, 1866; her husband the 24th of the following June. Both were members of the Disciples' Church. The subject began working in the saw-mill at Milford at the age of twenty-one, receiving from $13 to $20 per month, and by the strictest economy he purchased a farm of eighty acres at $5 per acre, built a good frame house, and in the fall of 1855 was free from debt. January 1, 1856, he married Julia Swogger, daughter of Isaac and Susannah Swogger, natives of Ohio, of German descent. They have three children -Ada, who married Eugene Nichols December 26, 1875; Amanda and Charles W. For a period of about twenty years, he was never more than twenty-five miles away from home; but October 30, 1876, he saw his neighbor, Mr. Acton, starting out, en route for the Centennial, and, without further ceremony, Mr. Pyatt concluded to accompany him, and did so, returning in time to vote for Tilden and Hendricks. Mr Pyatt's property is estimated at about $24,000.
